Today I'm going to show you /one/ way to draw a paw! There are many others, so don't feel confined to drawing this way ^^ Let's get right into it! [ ♥ steps ♥ ] ♥ Step 1; The First Sketch - First off, I draw a basic sketch to get the feel of what I want. When you draw it, you don't need to get all the details in. It's a sketch, so you can always change it and add to it later. ♥ Step 2; The Second Sketch - Next, I go over my sketch on a new layer. As you may have noticed, I changed the toe on the far end. This is a later sketch, so if you want, start adding in details. ♥ Step 3; The Final Sketch 1/2 - This is the final sketch, so you can start adding small details. I added the fourth toe on the far side! ♥ Step 3; The Final Sketch 2/2 - Still the final sketch, I just made one of the toes nicer. ♥ Step 4; Lineart - Now, I go over my sketch in black, and make, drumroll please, the outline! This/these are the lines that you will color inside/Final, final sketch? If you have any accessories, they would be completed and in black here. ♥ Step 5; Base color - Next, choose your base fur color. The base fur color is the white on a Siamese, the orange and black on a Chimera cat, the pale on a Sphynx, and so on. When you have chosen your color, color your Lineart. It doesn't have to be inside of the lines, so don't worry if it gets messy. ♥ Step 6; Fur pattern - This step is where you draw the patterns on your cat. It could have a lighter color for the toes/paw/foot, markings, maybe even no design at all! It's all up to you. ♥ Step 7; Shading - Personally, this is my favorite step. It gives life to your artwork. When I shade, I either use a more blue color (I did this for the toes), a darker color (I did this for the darker grey), or blue or black, then changed the opacity. You can use your own way to do it too! To make the shading look realistic, pick a spot where the light is coming from. Then you can use your hand (or something else!) and put it the same distance and position from the light, so you can use it as a shading reference! ♥ Step 8; Cleaning up - If you didn't use the fill tool, it will probably be a little messy outside the lines. This is the step where you erase the excess color and make it look cleaner! ♥ Step 9; Background - Ah, the background. It really tells a story. It could be a solid color, a pattern, a scene, whatever you could imagine it to be! I myself like to but a color, then a darker color somewhere, and then outline the drawing in white. It works for me :) ♥ Step 10; Watermark - The watermark, signature, whatever you'd like to call it is to prevent art theft. You can put it wherever you want, or not put it! It can say whatever you want, but in my opinion, the best way to do it is with your username.
