Basically, Madrigal is alone at a masquerade party and trying not to catch the eye of Thiago, a bully. Akiva arrives in a disguise and dances with her through the night, saving her from having to dance with Thiago (from the book Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor).
