clickity click hi everyone <3 Sorry I haven't been very active lately, I have zero project making motivation :( I also have a lot of summer camps going on, among those a ceramics camp at my school (I also had a ceramics class this year where I made this: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/624422700/ ). Here are some things I made over the course of 3 weeks. The classes were 1.5 hours long and the first two weeks were spent rendering and refining your piece, and the last week was spend glazing (side note: glaze is a type of varnish that contains all the materials used to make up glass suspended in water. It is then bonded to an object by firing, and hardens to form a glass-like coating around the object). I'm actually not a big fan of glazing, as it's very finicky and sometimes unpredictable. My style of sculpting and painting is often very neat and precise, meaning I want to have as much control over my materials as possible, which is why, for these three objects, I decided to use acrylic paint instead of glaze. 1-3: a drippy alarm clock :D the concept of this piece was inspired by a famous artist named Salvador Dali, who is famous for his paintings that depict melting clocks. For this piece, I wanted to create something that made viewers question what this clock was trying to portray. This piece was quite the struggle, from someone accidentally dropping it while trying to put it into the kiln -_- to having to repair it time and time again (get it? lmao), but I'm really happy with the outcome. Hope you like it! 4: a gyroid from Animal Crossing! I really had no reason for making this other than I wanted to :') It was a really quick one, it only took about an hour to render and 45 minutes to paint. I got obsessed with ac after my parents got me and my sister a Nintendo switch for Christmas and have been playing it ever since. 5: frogyy :DDD Our teacher gave us an assignment to create something that comes to mind when we think about summer. Before covid I used to spend a lot of time with my grandfather over the summer, and his nickname as a boy was 青蛙 (qingwa), which means frog in Chinese. This one was probably the easiest for me because I love making animals. The mushroom and ladybug in the bottom right have appeared in both of the other two animal pieces I have created (a rat and a hedgehog), so I guess it's kind of like a special signature. That's it! Sorry for writing so much T-T See you later!
