This rant is going to be a little… different. Today I’m going to tell u all about a show for 5 year olds, but one that is so amazing, it blows my mind. City of ghosts is about a group of friends (kids) who go around talking to people about ghosts they’ve encountered. Let me go over some reasoning as to why this show is so good. 1. The audio. When you listen to the audio, it sounds like nothing you’ve ever heard in any other show, it sounds clean, calm and peaceful. Nothing overlaps, there’s no loud background music, and all the voices sound so clear. The background noises are perfectly placed, from a small birdy’s tweets to a dog’s bark, every last sound in this show fits perfectly. 2. The representation. In this show, there’s representation for everybody. We get lgbtqa+ rep with thomas, one of the main characters who uses they/them pronouns, and jasper, someone who has two moms in the show. There’s representation of native americans, representation of asian people, representation of black people and the list goes on. None of the poc/lgbtqa+ representation is stereotypical! Unlike other shows, in this show, everyone is treated the same, as a real human being who deserves love and has rights. 3. The artstyle. The way all the characters and even the backgrounds are drawn/made is astounding. Everything looks beautiful and it just further compliments the previous elements I’ve talked about. The city highways, the cloudy skies, and even the places where the team holds their ghost meetings are detailed right down to a piece of paper. I haven’t even covered all the reasons, but I hope you give this show a try! Thanks for reading <3
