Welcome to Star Chase! This is a 1-4 player party game, which can be played with either computer-controlled opponents or in local multiplayer! ========================================= About: Star Chase is a multiplayer party game with board game-like gameplay. Take turns rolling the dice and moving, and play minigames to earn coins! The first player to pay fifteen coins on the star space at the end of the board gets a shot at being the winner! Setting up: To begin, select the number of players and the characters of those players. Then select the map you'd like to play on. Selecting "Free Play" allows you play just minigames. At the bottom right corner of the map select screen, you can choose between the regular game mode and "Quick Run" mode. The difference between the two is explained below. Quick Run: Quick Run is a new game mode introduced in version 1.6 of the game. This makes the game even faster-paced and takes less time to complete. The specific changes are: Each player starts with an Even Dice and a Speedy Dice Players start with 20 coins each, rather than the usual 10. Instead of after every round, minigames are only played after every other round. The board does not feature any backward spaces. On the board: The board is where most of the gameplay takes place. On your turn, Select a dice block that you own, (special dice blocks can only be used once,) and roll it. Your character will move the number of spaces that you rolled, and, if you land on a special type of space, something will happen! Before rolling, you can press the brown button at the top-right of the screen to zoom out, and hover over each space to find out what it does. Press space to advance through Starfish's dialogue. Playing Minigames: A minigame is played at the end of each round. (Not including the final round, where you play a boss battle instead.) Depending on the minigame, you must jump, spin, count, or engage in increasingly bizarre activities to defeat your opponents! Minigame controls: Player 1: WASD Player 2: TFGH Player 3: IJKL Player 4: arrow keys These keys have different uses depending on the minigame. Ending the game: When somebody makes it to the star space and pays fifteen coins, that round is the final round of the game. To participate in the ending boss battle, be one of those players. The player who wins the boss battle is crowned champion! List of Boards: Magnificent Meadows A simple map without to many surprises. Sweltering Scramble A more intense map with lava chasing you after every round! Tricky Tundra A more relaxing map with a simple layout. Look out for the ice spaces though! Chocolate Land The Chocolate People live here, and are neighbors to the Vanillagers. Travel through the candy-inspired land, and make your way to the vanillage! Blissful Beach A relaxing beach with very simple spaces. You can find treasure in the water, but watch out for sharks! Dice block shop: Sometimes you'll find a dice block shop on a board. Passing by allows you to buy a dice block of your choice. Make sure to save some cash for the star, though! Gift: Each game, one gift appears on a normal space somewhere in the board. When you pass it, you may pay either 2 or 5 coins to receive a random dice block. The rarity of the dice block depends on how many coins you pay. List of dice blocks: Normal Dice Block: 1-6 (Default) Risky Dice Block: 0 0 9 Steady Dice Block: 1 4 4 Even Dice Block 2 4 6 Speedy Dice Block: 3 4 7 Chocolate Dice: 1 2 4 6 8 9 Vanilla Dice: 2 3 4 6 7 8
This game is hugely inspired by the Mario Party series, mainly Mario Party 10. It was also inspired Scratch Party Ultimate, another Scratch project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/642577693/ This is by far my biggest shared Scratch project, which has taken me hours and hours to complete. Unfortunately, I didn't bother to write dates in the changelog, but I believe I first shared this game around 2023. As of version 1.6, I have decided that I am done working on this project, but I have many other exciting projects in the works! Q&A: Q: How long is this game? A: A normal game takes around 20-30 minutes. (Usually, rounds take longer with more people.) The "Quick Run" game mode can significantly speed up the game. Q: Can I save my progress? Yes you can! The game automatically saves your progress at the start of each round. If you restart the project in the middle of a game, your save code will appear at the bottom of the screen. Store the save code somewhere safe, and click "Load Game" next time you play to continue your adventure! Please let me know if you spot any bugs. Thanks!
