spacebar or touch picture story: Axetale takes place after a Neutral run. After managing to prevent Flowey from taking the Souls and destroying the surface, Frisk decides to live among Monster kind. With Toriel taking the throne once again, and Frisk working alongside the Monsters looking for a different way break the barrier, a new kind of Hope has been brought to the Underground. For thirteen years, everything seemed to be at peace... Until Flowey returned, bitter from defeat. Slaying Toriel, he manages to take the Souls this time; but his recklessness created a vicious glitch, fueled by the Void. This glitch, called The Hunger, began to afflict all Monsters. In a desperate attempt, not only save the Underground, but mainly Frisk, Sans takes Toriel's Soul. He gives it to Frisk, forcing them to go through the barrier, hoping to keep her safe. Unfortunately, fate had different plans. Frisk was never able to return, and would pass away after giving birth to her daughter Aliza. Thus, the Underground decayed, seemingly all Hope died alongside Frisk. But there was still a spark left... Aliza had read Frisk’s journal about the Underground. This journal gave detailed accounts of Frisk's encounters, and even included a map of the Underground. Inspired by her mother’s writing, and the desire to leave her abuseive grandmother, Aliza would collect the 7 Souls required to break the barrier. Setting off to free the Monsters, Aliza came to discover the Underground was not the same place depicted in Frisk’s Journal. From here, she must face the dark reality of the Underground's current state.
