You will not be able to see other people online. To check your scratcher status just go to your profile and it should say it by your Scratch account's username if you are a "Scratcher" than it will allow you to play this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To be a Scratcher you just have to be on a account with a "New Scratcher" for a while and it will change.
