This game uses Elkonin boxes which is a research based strategy for teaching phonemic awareness. It is meant to be played in a small literacy group. The directions are as follows: Call out a word that has three phonemes (sounds). A student will try to say each phoneme in the word. For each sound that the student correctly says they will tap one red circle. When they get all three of the phonemes correct press the butterfly. That will give them one point. Keep playing until the student has completed 7 correct words.
I made this project on my own after I could not find a suitable game that used Elkonin boxes. I also have Elkonin 2 for students that are only working on 2 phonemes and Elkonin 4 for students that have moved on to 4 phonemes.
