“We’re here,” Paradise said, glancing at the rainforest canopy. ‘Finally,’ Stargazer thought. All she has to do now is to find her home and her parents. She unfolded her wings and flew up to get a better look at the rainforest. The rainforest was beautiful as always, the homes varying from small huts to larger homes. The entire area was surrounded by huge trees, colorful flowers and fruit. Rays of sunlight peeked out from the rainforest canopy. The rainforest has been developing for about five years now, under Queen Glory’s rule. They were developing more each day; not just the rainforest, but the entire continent. ‘I think I found it,’ Stargazer thought, glancing at a house covered in varying shades of tropical flowers. She swooped down and landed in front of the flower-covered house. The sweet scent of flowers welcomed her as she knocked on the door. “Stargazer, you’re back! And so early!” her mother said, opening the door. “Yes, Jade Mountain Academy is visiting for about a day,” Stargazer replied sheepishly. “Well, come in!” Stargazer’s mother said. Stargazer’s home was relatively simple, with a small stone table and several moss beds. A wooden platform was attached to the house, with a large hole to get in and out of the platform. “Your father is out to run an errand,” Toucan explained, rearranging Stargazer’s bed. “He’ll be back soon.” “Mother, may I ask you something?” Stargazer asked, lowering her head. “Was I only born with foresight?” “Yes, you were born under one moon. Remember the time when we went to visit that NightWing powers specialist?” Stargazer vaguely recalled the time when she met a NightWing who examined her abilities. “She has very little foresight,” he had told Stargazer’s parents. “She will only have visions once a few months, if not a year.” Come to think of it, she did remember a few times when she had flashes of the future, but even then, the visions were insignificant, like weather changes and which petal will fall off the flower. She never had a prophecy, much less an important vision. “Is there anything you would like to tell me?” Stargazer’s mother said, worry laced in her voice. “No, I was just curious.” Stargazer lied. ‘So my parents don’t know about my mindreading, unless they’re lying. Judging from the tone of my mother's voice, that’s not very likely. So how do I find out more about my powers?’ “Can I go outside?” Stargazer asked. “I’ll come back in a few hours.” “Okay, but come back before sunset,” Toucan responded. “And remember to stay safe!” “Yes, mother!” Stargazer exclaimed, already out the door. She flew down to a lower part of the rainforest, and was planning to land when- “Hey, WATCH IT!” an enraged voice shouted. Stargazer had bumped into another RainWing, her scales bright red and orange. “I’m sorry!” Stargazer apologized, wincing. “I didn’t know where I was going, and…” The angry dragon sighed. “No, it’s fine. Sorry for being so aggressive. Venom, come here.” “Aura, you shouldn’t have SAID THAT!” A disembodied voice exclaimed from the nearby voices. “Just ignore him,” Aura said flatly. “JUST COME OUT AND STOP HIDING!” she shouted. “Okay, fine.” Venom said, stepping out of the bushes. Stargazer couldn’t tell which tribe he was in, but it looked like he had RainWing and Mudwing blood, possibly more. Venom looked like he could fly for hours and hours and never get tired. “Why are you here?” Aura asked skeptically. “What do you mean?” Stargazer asked. “I’m just here because of Jade Mountain. We do rainforest visits and stuff like that.” “Oh, you’re still in school?” Aura replied. “Yeah,” Stargazer said. “Um, I have to go, can I talk to you later?” “Fine. If you need anything, just know that we’re not really going anywhere.” “For now,” Venom interjected matter-of-factly. “Whatever,” Aura said as Stargazer flew away. “That was strange,” Stargazer thought out loud. “What was I going to do again?” ‘Oh right. Find someone who can help me figure out my weird mind reading. In fact,’ she thought, her heart rate picking up speed. ‘I know exactly who to find.’
