Hello hosts and leaders seeing my application <33 Currently I’m at a sleep away camp and have only brought my phone as my electronic which means I can’t back an application similar to what I did last session ^^ I was allowed to apply with just answers and I understand the competition will be difficult, but I’m willing to try! - About me: Hey everybody, and welcome to my application! I’m Arwen, and woah, can’t believe it’s another session already :0 I use She/Her pronouns. Not much has changed since June, but I have found a new hobby of skateboarding. I’m not super talented, but man, do I love the aesthetic :S I’m passionate about surfing, as I live really close to the beach (It’s a plus about living in the PST timezone). My favorite art media will still continue to be clay, I just love the fact that so many things were made out of sculpting, and there’s so much rich history from many historical sculptures. Participation: Last session was my first session, and I was a leader of the Doodle Realm! Other than that, I’ve never participated in any other Scratch camps. Lodges: As I’m only applying for co-leader this session, I don’t have a super huge preference, but the lodges that would probably not suit my strength are, Realism, Landscape, and Botanical. I do have some theme ideas for Pop, Lineless, and Abstract! Collaboration: Poem said this many times “collaboration is key to a successful lodge” and that’s what stuck to my brain throughout the whole session last session. I tried my best to get to know my co-leaders, but of course, activity and school occurred, so we still had to keep going. I really hope that other than getting to know my leader a bit more, I’ll also work on getting a better relationship with my campers, who at the end of the day make SAC, SAC. Games, bribery, and friendly competition is what seems to strive campers to do the dailies/weekendlies and helps motivate the campers, but in my opinion, I think a good storyline, with in-lodge activities would be great! Something like obstacles where you have to complete a task with someone in your lodge, or maybe just a small check-in where you get to know your leaders a little more, would really help campers to get to know each other. When I was looking back at past lodges for possible inspiration, I saw that Pop made a draw the squad collaboration, and I think that’s what really helped close down the session. It was fun, artsy, and just seemed like a great way to conclude the many fantastic memories made. That’s what I’ll really strive to do alongside my leader, and I’ll make sure to try my best to get to know each camper that is placed in the lodge I /possibly/ co-lead. Commitments: Like everyone else, I have school. I will also be doing a team sport in school, so that may lead to some inactivity during the weekdays, but other than that, I should be pretty good! Stand out: Standing out is a key thing to get chosen as a co-leader and how to make the cut. I also think that it’s how you get more people to be intrigued in your lodge and choose you as a co-leader. Even if it’s just me, personally, standing out, to even the lodge's theme + storyline being unique, I think that’s important to have. Personally, for me, I would try to make a good impression of myself upon adding minutes, chatting with others, and just in general, especially during the welcoming messages where you give a greeting to your upcoming campers! (..)
(..) Why: I was a leader last session, and it was an amazing first time as a person in a camp! I’ve never got to experience an online camp before, and it was truly such an incredible experience. Although I had a few bumps along the way throughout my time as a leader, I also got to learn a lot, and I think I’d suit better as a co-leader learning from someone else ^^ I had such a fantastic time as a leader, and enjoy the leading experience, so I really wanted to come back and have some sort of leadership position this upcoming session <33 Expectations: As a co-leader in August and September, I’m expected to plan with my leader and make sure both of our thoughts are heard to make a collaborative lodge. I’ll also read the leader forum throughout the whole time as a co-leader and keep up to date with all updates and meet the expectations that I’ve set up for myself here. In September, I understand that I’ll have to be a bit more active than my August activity as that’s when campers are sorted into lodges, there’s 1 month away from SAC, and we just need to finish all our tasks. In October, the expectations I’ve set for myself will be adding minutes, doing activities with my campers, attempting to participate in collaborative point activities to get to know others from other lodges, and making sure to keep in touch with my leader. Keeping in touch and getting to know my leader will strengthen our bond and working éthique as we lead a lodge together, so I believe that’s one of my top priorities as soon as we’ve created a way to communicate. Unique experience: Building a unique lodge is definitely important for a good impression when campers signup for your lodge and just so that they’ll be like “Oh hey, Arwen’s a leader again! I should sign up for her lodge since it was a blast last session,” is something I hope to do. I’d really like to create an engaging, interactive, and slightly competitive lodge, as I found lodges with those traits have a higher quality bond than those who didn’t excel in those traits ^^ Correct yourself: Last session, I definitely think I took charge a bit more than I should have, and I do take the blame for it. This session, I hope to do the fair amount of work that’s necessary. If I ever do too much with planning a lodge, I’ll apologize and ask follow up questions to see if my leader likes what we’ve planned. If I do too little work doing lodge planning then I’ll catch up to things, apologize for not partaking in much planning, and then suggest ideas or keep the conversation of planning continue. I feel like apologizing is important to signify that the person themself knows what they’re doing and how they’re overly helping or not helping enough, and so if I ever do face that problem, I’ll make sure to apologize. Making sure that we’re both on the same track is something that I’ll prioritize as well!
