(This is a remix of her original project, everything is hers not mine) :) help spread the word!!! <333 #stopallasianhate saah. yes i saw injustiice ‘s project. no i’m not copying them, i’ve had this on my mind for years now and i’ve got proof that it exists. this is about how asians are suddenly only east asians. south asians are asians too. onto the problem: as a south asian teenager who immigrated with her parents to a 1st world country at the age of four. i’ve seen a lot of things (or not.) regarding my culture/religion. currently, theres a lot going on about #stopasianhate, or stop islamophobia. i agree, everyone should treat others equally. but what about us. asia is a continent, consisting of many countries big and small. for example, india, pakistan, kyrgyzstan, laos, indonesia, thailand, malaysia etc. /not/ just east asia, aka japan, korea, china, sometimes vietnam but many people dont even know vietnamese people exist like ?? asian is an UMBRELLA term for all these people in asia. asian is not just people from k-pop, people who create anime. lots of people talk about the hate crimes against asian-americans but it never talks about ANY. other. asian. except east asians. to even find ARTICLES regarding like- south asian people, you can’t say indian-american or indian-canadian because those terms are /wrongly/ used for the indigenous peoples of this land. we are neglected, disregarded. my expericences throughout my decade in a first world country have been- weird. people of my own race, culture, religion, tend to make themselves, in front of the majority, a joke. my classmates, make fun of their own, MY OWN culture, MY religion, MY race. they > make fun of our (their own.) music, > never speak their mother tongue, cause its, ‘weird’ ( nor learn the pronunciation ) > neglect their own countries food cause its ‘boring’ this just makes me angry. our music is great. suddenly, because our music isn’t rap, or wtvr rappers they currently now listen to isn’t ‘on par’ with their own peoples music. its weird. they never speak their language. just like how dialects cree did, they might just go endangered. they’re always like “its just more comfortable speaking english, i would never speak ____ with my parents . . . YOU DO? you dont speak english with your parents? thats so weird.” it hurts. but, i am NOT weird for speaking my mother tongue. i’m (quad)bilingual and im proud of it. also another thing that kinda infruriates me is the fact that immigrants ( especially indians, pakistani’s and even east asians who don’t fit the look of looking ‘asian’) trying to learn english sound “weird” or “uneducated”, but when your kpop idol is, it’s cute. because here we are judging people by how they look or where they’re from. learning english is hard. my parents still have an accent, SO WHAT. its english, you can understand. not that hard. the accent isn’t the problem, the person who thinks its weird and uncomfortable sounding is. when people say i wish a were “asian”. which asian are you talking about, exactly. east asians. stop using east asian’s as aesthetics. they are people. stop making their culture look like a joke. it isn’t. remember, “asian” is an umbrella term to MANY different types of peoples and places of asia. asia is beautiful, asians are beautiful, all of them. <3. redirect to some cool projects: ‘s prj: ‘s prj:
