space for next slide *this is just a small thing about how i ride my horses, as such, its just my opinion and what i practice. not going after anyone who uses bits, not saying all bits are bad, etc, just what i do personally with my own horses :) I used to use bits, but once i decided i was comfortable enough, i started riding in only a halter, and never looked back bits totally can give more control when you need it, but i like to work on my relationship and training with the horse and get him to respond well with just a halter. so far, i had good results. its perfect for me (also im too lazy to go get a bridle and all that nonsense :U man imma just throw that rope over his head and lets go xD) bitless does take more patience, but i think its worth it for me because it makes me feel the horse better and work with him in different ways. not sure if horses who are used to the bit will respond as well, because I trained Electricity myself (and now, working slowly on Achilles and his mom, Pecan.) but i'd like to someday try it. im sure its possible. horses are pressure-release after all. once you can understand that, training becomes much easier we've been doin a bunch of groundwork with Achilles since he was around 6 months old and now my sister's trying to "train" him. we'll see how that goes xD so far so good, going to see what happens with starting a horse this young lol. (for reference, he's almost 2 now! almost ready to ride :) a good exercise is to ride a horse using just a lead rope and halter. one rein, basically. you throw it over his head to change directions, and stop him as you would if you were leading. :) Really helped me to get more confident in my riding and in my horse! of course he has to respond well to leading first, and have all the groundwork down. you don't want to get on an untrained horse like that. I had my sister try it with Achilles, and he did ok! It shows you don't need 2 reins to have control, and it helps to build cues because you don't have the 2-rein crutch. it makes you rely on your body more than on the reins to communicate. learned these techniques from Think Like a Horse on youtube, he breaks it down and makes it easy to understand!
song: Never Enough -Hunna m to mute music spacebar for next Electricity and Achilles are father and son, and Pecan is Achilles' mom :)
