--- About | Scroll Down for Instructions --- This is a (very rudimentary!) word processor for Rovás script, known in English as Old Hungarian, or the Old Hungarian Runic Script. A unicode version of the script exists but is not widely supported. A friend and I were discussing the challenges that would be involved in making a word processor for Old Hungarian using a modern keyboard, etc., and shortly thereafter this project came to be :) This is just for fun, and because I wanted to make a slightly different project from usual! Hopefully with this project, some more people will learn about this fascinating writing system. --- Instructions --- To start, you can type directly into the project! [right arrow] to backspace [up/down arrow] to move between lines (Diagraphs will not type until the final keystroke is complete.) Additionally, hover on the four buttons on the left side to show extra menus. --- General Info --- Currently supported keyboard settings are: -English - (USA) / (United Kingdom) / (International) -Deutsch -Magyar You are at the mercy of google translate if you use the translate feature... :P I've attempted to fix common mistranslations, most of which seem to be mis-identification of the correct case when translating from German. But you may still find some anomalies, as there are bound to be problems I haven't discovered. Ultimately the best way is to type the phrase directly in Hungarian :) You can always click the [debug] button if a translation seems strange, and feel free to comment if there seems to be a bug that isn't bad-google-translate related!
For those interested, the unicode chart is here: https://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U10C80.pdf The initial version of this was lazily coded very late at night, and therefore did not work very well, so hopefully those issues are fixed. Please try to break it and report any bugs :P English is my first language, so German/Hungarian native speakers, please let me know if any of the manual translations here could be better. Letter set taken from the wikipedia page. Button set I downloaded a while ago and can't remember where from. --- Things still to do --- Add numbers Support double diagraph typing* Manually fix translations for common phrases *at present, this will not print properly - you will need to backspace over the second one and type it again for it to display correctly. This is a high priority for me to fix.
