So I've been asked this question quite a lot on scratch now with different wording. Basically everyone wants to know how to post a contest and get a lot of entries without asking other people to join on their profiles or advertising, here is a guide from me written down. 1. ME JOINING (joke) I might join if I like it but this was irrelevant. 2. Patience Most important part,, You can talk to your friends and ask them to join but main thing is being patient I normally let my followers find it share it join it and then it goes from there. 3. Prizes I think also having prizes that are really enticing can draw people, do not state too many prizes and then end up having to sacrifice your mental health for it, add a good amount, prizes can be follows from you, prizegivers, an illustration or multiple 4. The character content Adding a character with a strong lore, and informative grounding more people will enjoy entering because they know exactly what they need to draw and the concepts they can incorporate in their illustrations. This also means making your reference drawing overly packed can lower chances of people entering keep it simple, stylized but memorable and fun to be able to recreate. Don't add too much on the drawing or it won't produce the best effect. For examples: having a more minimalistic style in terms of more muted color choices and non heavy background. 5. Audience Most of artist prefer drawing females while some others prefer male, the kind of audience you want to join your contest should be kept in mind as this can increase chances of the kind of people you prefer to join your contest. 6. Type of art contest Although most people prefer dmc’s because they can let their own concepts shine and write backstories and create more original art dtiys are best for people who prefer to directly draw from reference. DTA's are for people who are looking for new characters so create characters by grouping people you want to join's interests and incorporating them into each characters. Other contest can also work this way. 7. Deadline so many people want a far deadline to complete keep it at least 2 months from the posting date if you have less than 1K followers and if you have more than 4K followers then you could consider shortening it. 8.
