advertising, when is it acceptable? a rant by @sincerely-wynn ●●● welcome to my first rant with interviews in it! <3 please lmk if you like this style and i will continue to interview people next time, i think i'll be doing interviews in a topic thats more controversial lol i have cut off some parts of the longer interviews, there are screenshots of all the full interviews in the project (some parts were already said, thats all) ●●● advertising is something that is commonly found, everywhere on scratch, its all over the place. you look through a featured project, you scroll to the comments, oh look, theres an ad. you look in an aesthetic scratchers 'chat' studio, oh look there's an ad. i have interviewed [a large number] of scratchers about this issue. i asked all of them: whats your opinion about advertising? i will be showing you a part of the interview answer and i'll be sharing what i think about it + some of my opinion @--infiires says... "I think advertisement can help projects and people get more popular but only if people advertise in places that allow it. But I generally have a positive attitude towards advertisement" the part where they say 'if people advertise in places they allow it' really sums up when its acceptable. next, [an anonymous person] says... "I think advertising on profiles is ok unless the account has specified otherwise sometimes people don't specify, and they sometimes don't want ads, so i think you should never advertise on a pf unless they allow it ─ but when they are advertising small projects with a few slides and basic code , that’s not really the same. that project doesn’t really deserve to be advertised as much I guess what exactly is the definition of a project being deserved to advertise? i think that statement itself is a bit controversial ─ I also think advertising on studios that allow advertising is good but when people just comment ads it’s kinda annoying ─ it is annoying, but it should be acceptable then but advertising on studios that don’t allow it is just annoying , and it’s more of a way to get unpopular than popular" agreed ^^ @-pxstelberii- had a quite long interview, but she provided a great summary "To sum all that I have said, it depends on what kind of studio you are uploading this on, chatroom- not acceptable | studio that allows- acceptable! | pf- also not acceptable" lastly "i think it shouldn't be allowed. 1. people shouldnt be self-promoting themselves (self promo), views come naturally not when you force other people to look at ur project 2. if it's in a advertising studio then it's okay- yep! - ig 3. if people want to avoid people advertising on their pf, they should at least say in their bio that they don't allow it" yeah, if you don't want advertisement, make sure to specify! this sets great rules for when its acceptable! last interview "i think there is a time and a place for advertising such as advertising studios or if someone asks for a link- but on the featured projects - glad you mentioned this, featured projects get so much ads, and almost all the time, they have some kind of msg in their desc that says 'STOP ADVERTISING' lol - there is soo much advertising and in popular scratcher projects it's very unfair to spam creators with links as it clogs up their messages and half the time people don't tend to click on the link anyway so really it's wasting everyone's time!" well said! it does waste everyones time lol so i think we created some great boundries on when its acceptable Chatroom - not acceptable Studio (that allows) - acceptable Studio (that doesn't allow) - not acceptable Featured projects - not acceptable Profiles that don't allow - not acceptable Profiles that don't specify - not acceptable Profiles that allow - acceptable theres a time & place for advertising, so please take all of this into consideration if your gonna advertise! that's all for today thanks so much to the people who responded © 2022
