Hey. I discovered some drama about a certain user faking their death in order to leave Scratch. This caused a lot of distress, and a lot of people feel hurt by the situation. I'm not going to tell you who this was, but if you know, please don't harass them or mention them by name in the comments. First of all, I don't think it's ok to fake death. Losing someone is one of the worst pains, and faking it is genuinely dangerous. It would have been a better idea to simply post a project letting people know you were leaving. A few people have posted comments claiming that the user isn't deserving of forgiveness. I don't think this is okay. I respect their opinions enough not to try to argue, but I'm going to stick to my opinion. The user in question has since apologized and feels very bad about what they did. They are planning on leaving. However, they are still being harassed about what they did. In one particular case, someone was previously hurt by the user in question. The incident caused quite a lot of distress, but it turned out to be a misunderstanding in the end. One thing that often pops into my head is a phrase that my mom told me: "Hurt people hurt people." In other words, people that are hurting inside tend to hurt people around them, whether it's unintentional or not. It might not be justified or okay, but it's understandable. I assume the user in question is going through a hard time right now. They have a lot going on and needed time away from Scratch. They wanted to leave quietly, so they tried their best without realizing the effects it would have. Walk a mile in their shoes. How would you feel if you made a mistake, however big or small it was, and you couldn't fix what you did? It was a simple mistake, and they already have a lot on their plates. Please forgive them <3 /g /srs Feel free to comment your thoughts on the situation. I don't want to argue, but I'm interested in hearing your opinions. Thank you for reading <3
