This world is by no means scientifically accurate. Fact of the Project: Red giants can have a stable habitable zone for two to three billion years, allowing life to theoretically develop on planets within the habitable zone. A little note from experience - I used to find all this coding really daunting and impressive when I was young. Functions and pen were something of a high level. But, after coding for a while by now, seeing the usage of functions and pen isn’t a big deal - in fact, I use it on a daily basis!
