ShrubClan - Ultra write to adopt (998th project) STORY ASPECTS: Territory: ShrubClan lives on a large, hilly field with many bushes. They primarily hunt rabbits and field mice, although there are occasionally some voles around the river that winds from the southeastern edge of their territory to the westernmost edge. There are some snake-infested burrows to the north of camp - which is a dip in the ground hemmed by dry bushes and brambles, with logs, holes and bushes as the dens + a tunnel to exit - that pose a danger to young apprentices, as well as a patch of deathberries in the northwest area. There is a minor rogue/loner problem, but most ShrubClan cats are descended from (or were once) rogues, loners or abandoned kittypets. The territory changes with the seasons, usually there are damp leaf-falls/autumns, wet leafbares/winters and hot greenleaf/summers with peaceful newleafs/springs. There is barely any lush grass in ShrubClan's territory, and the soil is hard and not too fertile but the cats can get by. They mark the borders clearly by using a mostly-destroyed old twoleg fence that used to seperate this paddock from the surrounding lands. It poses no threat or challenge for most cats going through, but it helps keep the borders clear. It used to be a field for grazing cattle (and the dip where the camp is used to be a pond), but has long since been abandoned now that the river flows through. Overview: ShrubClan is an orderly, clean Clan which is strict on rules. They live in a large field that used to be for grazing cattle. WTA STUFF / RANDOM NOTES: Creator Notes: ~ Poppyfeather looks out of place, I know. I drew her later. :/ ~ I spelled ambitious wrong in some places, I don't have a spell check don't kill me ~ Please remix to enter Rules: ~ Must be child friendly (don't go into detail on mates, kitting, violence, etc) ~ Short stories only please ~ Don't be mean ~ Don't whine if you don't win ~ Feel free to add any other things, like more queens, elders, kits, etc. ~ You cannot claim the (original) art/characters as your own unless you redesign/remake them. ~ You are not claiming one cat. You are claiming the entire Clan. ~ I will rate your story from 1 (being worst thing I've ever read / breaks the rules) to 10 (being omg how the heck did you write this are you a professional teach me your ways). Any ties will be randomised as to who gets the prize if Scratchers cannot agree to do joint ownership. Random design notes: ~ Spiderpaw's back marking is shaped like a spider (think Spiderman's logo) and the paler markings on her face act like eyes. (probably why it's so perceptive) ~ The number of points on Brindlestar's star marking represents how many lives she has left. ~ All markings can be simplified as long as they're still recognizable. ~ Poppyfeather's colours can be dulled down if they're too bright. Prize/s: 1st place: All claims to ShrubClan and it's cats are now yours. + bragging rights 2nd place: Two free designs to moodboard/s of your choice. 3rd place: One free design (moodboard of your choice optional) Everyone else: Opinions Ideas: ~ Explore Mistletoestorm's relationship with Spiderpaw (I just find it kinda silly that an arachnophobic cat is mentoring a creepily-spiderlike apprentice) ~ Explore Mistletoestorm's plans for becoming leader (potentially with sinister methods to get Brindlestar out of the way) ~ Explore Cormorantfang's struggling relationship with her mother. ~ Whitepaw and Chervilpaw shenanagins ~ Explore Spiderpaw in general ~ Just write a day in the life of someone in this Clan ~ Explore Poppyfeather's character and backstory (potentially her future of leaving ShrubClan) Tips: ~ Good grammar / proper punctuation ~ Staying true to the characters ~ Interesting story lol [see notes&credits for details about each Clan cat] WTAE: ~ [whose POV is it from? Name here] - [name of short story] ~ [story]
Brindlestar - She/her - Fair and wise but obsessed with rules. Brindlestar is a very old-fashioned cat. She is obsessed with making sure her Clanmates follow the rules and this has led to many problems and solutions. She has six lives left, but her Clanmates are unsure how quickly they'll go by with her ageing, frail state. She can be very harsh with rule-breakers and is quite strict on everyone. Mistletoestorm - She/they - Thoughtful and ambitious but afraid of spiders. Mistletoestorm is a good deputy, she thinks of new and creative solutions for complex problems. She's good at organising, but has a problem in that she's desperate to be leader. A few more sinister rumours circulate through the Clan that Mistletoestorm is plotting to take away Brindlestar's remaining lives and claim the position of leader. Mistletoestorm is not Clanborn, and was found at the border as a kit alongside her brothers, Whitepaw and Chervilpaw. She is very scared of spiders, but strangely gets along well with Spiderpaw - her apprentice. Lionface - he/him - Down-to-earth and honest but stubborn. Lionface is one of the oldest cats in ShrubClan, second only to Brindlestar. He stubbornly refuses to take on an apprentice until he is physically unable to take care of his Clanmates. He absolutely hates kits, especially when they're anywhere near the medicine cat den. Night'throat - she/her - Cheerful and friendly but easily-distracted. Night'throat is a kind and caring warrior, who is always ready to cheer someone up with her silly antics. Most of the apprentices and kits love her, and they often hope that she gets to mentor them. Squirrelface - he/they - respectful and loyal but easily-intimidated. Squirrelface is an ideal ShrubClan cat, he always follows the rules and will never think twice about following orders. Were it not for his easily-intimidated demeanour, Brindlestar would've had him as a deputy as soon as she could. Cormorantfang - she/her - Loyal and ambitious but obsessed with winning. Cormorantfang is Brindlestar's firstborn daughter. She inherited several aspects from her mother, namely being obsessive. She is very competitive and will constantly want to win everything. On hunting patrols she is always trying to catch more prey, on border patrols she's trying to be the most intimidating, herb patrols she's collecting the most herbs. It's rumoured that she's been training even as a warrior to make sure nobody gets the jump on her. Whitepaw and Chervilpaw - they/them (plural) - Talkative and bored but afraid of owls. Chervilpaw and Whitepaw are conjoined twins (connected by their tail), and Mistletoestorm's younger brothers. They were found at the border as kittens, alongside their six-moon-old sister. They are older than all other apprentices, and there's rumours that they'll never become warriors. They are afraid of owls after an incident in late kithood. Spiderpaw - she/it - Thoughtful and perceptive but mysterious. Spiderpaw is a very strange cat. Nobody remembers how she came into the Clan, but they hear her mumbling to itself about spiders and webs. There are rumours that she's a spider deity transformed into a cat. It says she can talk with the spider on her tail, whom she has named Cobwebpaw. Apparently, they're siblings. There are lots of spiderwebs in her nest, but she doesn't seem like a threat. Goldenkit - he/him - Playful and silly but oblivious. Goldenkit is a fun-to-be-around, happy-go-lucky cat with all manner of fun things to talk about and wacky games to play. While he's often dismissed by Starlingkit, Goldenkit will happily trail after any apprentice or warrior, sometimes even bothering the deputy! Goldenkit is rather oblivious to everything outside the nursery, though - which makes his innocence and playfulness all the more precious. Starlingkit - he/him - Confident and intelligent but vain. Starlingkit is the eldest of the kits, but is disliked by most of the Clan due to his entitled and jealous personality. There are a few rumours that he's related to Night'throat. Most of the warriors do not want to be his mentor. Poppyfeather - she/her - Confident and cunning but outcasted Poppyfeather is a confident and cunning cat, who enjoys spending time in the nursery. She's a permanent queen now, after her two kits died of greencough last winter. She is often left out and excluded by her Clanmates, although not because she used to be a kittypet or even because she took a mate from outside of ShrubClan. Her mate - a rogue by the name of Bear - lauched an attack on ShrubClan camp two moons ago. Being untrained, outnumbered rogues, the Clan was able to overpower the invading cats without too much hassle - however, Poppyfeather was rumoured to have prompted Bear to attack. Only a small handful of her Clanmates stay by her side and willingly defend her. Due to these antics, Poppyfeather is considering leaving ShrubClan to go and be with Bear and his band of rogues... ShrubClan has no elders.
