I recently watched a Veritasium video on the equation 3N+1, and I decided to make a graph of a possible pattern. Order: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 The way the equation works is that you pick any number. If it's odd you multiply it by 3 and add 1. If it's even you divide it by 2. It always ends up in a loop with 4 2 1 another thing is that the charts of each step and the number of steps is completely random. You can look up the video by Veritasium for a better explaination. Basically what this project does is it takes the first number of each number in each step for every number from 1 - 100,000 and organizes the first number of each into a graph. This is pretty cool, since it organizes into a curve the more it runs for, which is some organization and neatness in a seemingly (and probably) random equation.
