✰ Hello! I’ve been chatting to a few people about how I customise my clothes by sewing them and it has come to my attention that some of you were never taught how to sew. Never fear, your internet big sister is here! Keep in mind it isn’t the strongest, so if you want to mend a hole in something or sew darts I recommend using backstitch instead (see further down) -ˏˋ⠀ Bᴀsᴛɪɴɢ sᴛɪᴛᴄʜ ⠀ˊˎ- Basting stitch is a temporary stitch used to hold 2 or more pieces of fabric together. This is a very long, loose stitch not meant to be permanent. For example, say you wanted to sew a patch to something and you didn’t have any pins on hand, you’d do a basting stitch around the edge to hold it in place, then sew over it with the permanent stitch and cut out the basting stich. -ˏˋ⠀ Bᴀᴄᴋsᴛɪᴛᴄʜ ⠀ˊˎ- Backstitch is the sturdiest of the three, best for larger areas or darts in clothes. I intend to make a project on how to sew darts very soon, so look out for that! ✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Feel free to ask me anything sewing related in the comments, I’d be happy to help! ~Lemon
