Silverfur saw the rabbit. It was right there, right in front of her. She dropped into a crouch slowly stalking it. She felt the warm sand on her pads as she got closer to the edge of the lake, where the rabbit was lapping up water. Lapping up water. After she caught the rabbit, thats probably what she would be doing. It was ferociously hot out. Her tail started to lash as she got closer and closer to her prey. Then, she pounced. She missed the rabbit , and it squeaked in surprise, hopping straight into the water. It was struggling and squeaking madly. Silverfur smiled. She leaned over the small edge, stretching her paw out to retrieve it. Her claw barely grazed its matted fur. She leaned ever-so-slightly forward, but that was enough. She toppled forward, yowling. Water filled her nostrils, stinging, as she stretched her legs out, ready for the impact of paws on sand. But it never came. Even though she was ready for it, the water stung harshly on her eyes as they opened wide in terror. The sun slowly disappeared as the darkness swallowed her up.
