It was stunning; it gleamed a beautiful golden hue, water crystals embedded into it. As soon as the crown touched my head, I was embraced with warmth, golden light racing around my body. The citizens of Orian watched in awe, eyes wide and mouths open. When it stopped, I was greeted with a fanfare of music, cheers and celebration. I gave a small smile and waved. Sir Retone mouthed 'you should give a speech'. And so I did. "Citizens of Orian," I began. The crowd fell silent. "I am overjoyed to be your new ruler. In uncertain times like these, there will need to be a firm hand ruling this kingdom. And I am not saying it will be me. I recall I have a few cousins in this kingdom..." The crowd frowned and I continued. "But I will run this kingdom as smoothly as I can. I promise to try my very best in supporting this kingdom; I will try my best to help the kingdom grow, learn and improve." Those three words- grow, learn and improve- was on the kingdom's logo since forever. I plastered a smile over my face and placed my right hand on my chest. "I give you a Royal's Promise that this kingdom will flourish like no other!" In the corner of my eye, I saw Sir Retone sigh and put a hand to his forehead. I allowed the coronation to go on for an hour, desperate to get back to running the kingdom. I'd never been one for the spotlight- and yet I was the late Empress and Emperor's firstborn, destined to be forever bathed in fame and fortune. I disliked it when people praised me- it made my cheeks go red and an uncomfortable feeling always coursed through my veins. When I returned to the castle, the once-blue sky had turned an inky black. As soon as my head hit the pillows, I fell asleep. "Good morning, Harriot. Good morning, Eliane," I greeted as I passed various servants. I knew everyone's name in this castle- save for the new maids, butlers, chefs and the sort- and made it my mission to greet as many as possible. I was greeted in return with a smile. I made my way down to the main city, where the Statue of Orian was being reconstructed. Many would consider it silly to start rebuilding a statue first, instead of all the buildings and businesses that had been destroyed in the attack. But the Statue contained the kingdom's power- the royals' power. As soon as the Statue was rebuilt, I would be able to sacrifice some of my magic, as a tribute to the Founder of Orian and the kingdom. With the current monarch's power, the kingdom would flourish. Without it, well...extremely bad things would happen. So I as I supervised the rebuilding of the Statue, I earned some funny looks. Citizens passed me, eyebrows slightly raised, as if to say, what are you doing here? I ignored them, but it still bugged me. A little. Eventually, when it was midday and the Statue was restored, I returned to the palace. Sir Retone was giving me lessons on how to run the kingdom. I allowed myself an amused smile before the palace doors swung open as I touched the Ruler's Ring. Sir Retone was waiting for me. He said something about needing to learn a lot and paying attention. Ha. You can't do much about the last one, I thought. He babbled on and on for hours, lecturing me in various things I had to focus on as a ruler. I knew most of this stuff, as my parents and tutors, for some strange reason, had gone over those things a million times. Eventually, I got so bored that my eyelids started to droop, my body shutting down after a long day of sleep... And then I heard a familiar voice whisper something into my ear. ᴀɴɴᴏᴜɴᴄᴇᴍᴇɴᴛs I hope you enjoyed the second chapter :3 Sorry for the cliffhanger though XD My first ever collab is out! (It's featured on my profile, go check it out :D) ғᴜɴ ғᴀᴄᴛs (ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴛʜɪs sᴇʀɪᴇs & ᴛʜɪs ᴘᴀʀᴛɪᴄᴜʟᴀʀ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ) -This series took over a week to plan -The first chapter actually came to me in a dream! (Who else has had stories come to them via dreams before? Tell me :D) -I was slightly inspired, slightly slightly slightly by the book I'm reading, the Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan. It's really good and I recommend it! -Why the heck does the second chapter have more views than the first? That's it for now, and I hope you enjoy!
