Every Sulro is given a mask when they are born, made by the elder in the family. It will shape as you grow older, based on your personality and your ancestry. It is made as a circle mask with no defined shape. This story starts many years back, when the Lord of The Dark Flame, Azelik was ruler of 17 systems of planets, the only creature to ever gain that many followers. He had one prized possession, an egg. This was no ordinary egg, it would hatch to be Azelik’s son. He had everything planned out, the name, Joküll the Reaper would be their name. He had never thought that he would be banished. Azelik’s downfall was a great moment in history, but that’s for another time. Over time the egg and Azelik’s connection became a myth, a tale lost to time. One day, much like any other boring, murky day on the planet of Valiski, an egg was found in a vault, so well protected it took nineteen of the best locksmith’s until it was opened. When they found the egg, ‘they’ being the High Council, they had thoughts of the legend but thought nothing of it. The egg was given to a family with the surname of Quisi, they had no idea of the eggs history but were kind hearted and cared for the egg as if it was one of their own. When it hatched they kept with tradition and gave it a mask and a name, Joküll Quisi. The name was inscribed on the shell and it felt fitting for the child. The mask over time formed, it had four eyes, just like Joküll, it had a pair of fangs pointing up and slightly curving with a large grin across it. It looked old, battered and broken, with horns that would grow every year. The Quisi’s had never seen anything like it before and were frightened like any other creature, they put Joküll into a cavern under a mountain, their howls of pain and sorrow could be heard for miles, Arusiki Valin they started to called the mountain, thinking that the wind made this sorrow sound. Many a millennium passed and Joküll lost hope that anyone would hear him, they were silent for once in many years. They learned the ways of dark magic and bound their soul to the mask which they held so dearly to him like a child. When their body rotted and decayed they moved their soul into the mask which lay dormant for many years, until one day a Valusi found the mask and awakened Joküll. Now to Frosuth, this is where he comes in. Now, many years later, Joküll is just a myth. Frosuth a Child of the snow is born. He was well behaved as a child, skittish and slow to trust. He was only playing, many knew that, but even more didn’t. Frosuth’s village got burnt down by dragon fire, dragon fire leaves behind a trace of scale dust. The only one in the village able to make dragon fire was Frosuth. Being only seven years old they waited thirteen more years to give Frosuth the punishment, banishment. Banishment can mean a myriad of things, being banished the way Frosuth was is that he cannot come back to the village, but Azelik’s type of banishment was being banished to a different realm. Frosuth was banished from the village, then the only place he could go was Arusiki Valin. That is where the mask of Joküll was found. When Frosuth found the mask he was frightened, the fear fed the starving spirit and awoke Joküll. Their mask started to glow and was covered in green smoke, and engulfed in green flame. Four yellow pupils glowed showing that Joküll was no longer dormant but very much awake. Frosuth, frightened half to death, shook the fear away and stayed for he was banished from his village and had nowhere else to go. It was like a haunting, as if it was a ghost following you around. Now Joküll had been searching for ways to gain physical form once again, the only way they had found was necromancy, which they did not want their soul bound to a creature or another object. Continued in 'Notes and Credits'
Frosuth thought that over time he could change Joküll, but he was wrong, very much wrong. Six years later Joküll came up with an idea to take over 5 planets or territories. Frosuth was a part of the group to stop and banish Joküll. “My friend,” Frosuth wearily says, a sharp pain in his side, a blade sticking out of his leg. “Why have you done this? All you have brought is pain, and suffering.” He then winced as Joküll spoke in their split voice. “I have but one goal,” Joküll stared down at Frosuth. “To take vengeance for my millennials of pain,” “You have another, you told me all those years ago when I met you.” Frosuth looked up, a look of pain in his eyes not from physical pain, that had passed, it was the pain of memories, “You want to find your family.” Joküll’s eyes widened, becoming softer “Perhaps I want that as well” “I can give that to you, just put your horn to this stone.” Joküll’s mask floated down to the stone, “How do I know this is not a trap.” They glared at the surrounding creatures snarling. “Just trust me.” Frosuth gave a weary smile, Joküll touched the stone and disappeared in a flash of red light. Frosuth’s expression changed, the pain came back and he fell, weak, cold and sad. It’s said he died a few years later of an unknown cause, the stone is hidden so that Joküll will never come back, he was banished to Azelik’s realm. Frosuth wasn’t wrong, Joküll is back with his father. What will happen with Joküll, who knows. Frosuth is still very much alive, if you are thinking he even died. The unknown cause was just a ruse, he faked his own death to run away with the stone, which if you were paying attention, Azelik and Joküll are tied to. “How has it come to this” Frosuth asked looking out over The Valley of Milok. His frost covered fur shook with the wind and fell to the ground. With a mournful look in his eyes, tears swelled, heart pounding out of his chest. He took a deep breath and vanished behind the peak of Arusiki Valin, it is said that even now, years later he still guards the stone, wandering to find a new home, and protecting a friend. He has his own legend of how he ‘destroyed’ Joküll. They forget about his faults, mistakes and all the misfortune. When you see him, and you may, he will have an ethereal glow surrounding him, frost in his fur and a stone which he holds dearly, a stone with a green and red glow. The Stone of Joküll and Azelik.
