‘Here goes nothing,’ Stargazer thought as she knocked on the hard wooden door of Nightfall’s home. She hoped that he would be able to help in some way with her new powers, since he knew more about NightWing powers than she did. Nightfall may not have any powers, but he sure knew a lot about it. Up until then, Stargazer didn’t realize she was holding a jar, the same jar that held the purple flower that she had picked from the rainforest a week ago. She was surprised that it hadn’t wilted yet. ‘Maybe Nightfall will like it?’ Stargazer wondered subconsciously. The pair had been friends for a few years now. Stargazer had been to his home a few times, while Nightfall’s parents were away. “Yes, who is this?” Nightfall’s disembodied voice asked. “It’s your good old bestie!” Stargazer answered, suppressing a grin. “You can come in!” Nightfall exclaimed. The door creaked open as Stargazer nudged it aside with her talon. Nightfall’s home was filled with dozens of potted plants that held various tropical flowers in them, along with windchimes and colorful drawings. “Welcome back, Stargazer!” Nightfall said, smiling warmly. “Thanks…” Stargazer replied, smiling shyly. “So how’s it going at Jade Mountain?” Nightfall asked, his eyes sparking with curiosity. “It’s fine, I guess.” Stargazer said flatly. “It’s a very unusual experience, is all.” “I wish I could go to Jade Mountain,” Nightfall said. He wanted to go to Jade Mountain Academy so badly, but his parents didn’t have the time to enroll him. “I’ll take you there someday,” Stargazer replied, looking into his eyes. “But there’s something I need to tell you.” “What?!” Nightfall exclaimed after Stargazer told him about her mind reading. “That’s so cool!” “I guess,” Stargazer replied. “Do you know why this happened?” “It might be animus magic,” Nightfall replied. “But animus magic disappeared years ago. Only old animus-touched objects still exist.” “I know, but if it was animus magic, I should’ve known by now,” Stargazer said. “Good point. I’ll look into it more,” Nightfall replied. Stargazer glanced outside and realized that the sun was setting, turning the sky several shades of orange and pink, and casting long shadows on the floor. “I have to go,” Stargazer said. “My mom told me to come back before the sun sets.” “Understood,” Nightfall said. “S-sure,” Stargazer replied. “I guess I’ll see you next time.”
So... There was one paragraph in this chapter that the bad word detector thought it was bad? I have no idea why. Also, sorry if you're wondering why I haven't posted chapter 10, I felt like I wasn't ready to release that chapter to the public yet (improvements needed, blah blah blah) Thanks for reading!
