Update: I got an A+ for this B) Woah, Tib makes a non-art-related project? Unheard of /hj. Also, I hate that this thumbnail doesn't match my current thumbnail themes </3 Best with headphones! So, in case you didn't know, I'm a music student! This is my tenth year doing music and sixth year of playing an instrument. I'm in my school's academy for music, and this was my assessment for the term! Gonna put a bit of information down here because I personally find it quite interesting (then again, I am a music kid, so--). So, for this task, we had to create a piece that portrays the same kind of atmosphere as another existing song/songs. I chose to base mine on the feeling of longing and desperation, and on the soundtrack from the video game "Journey", which was composed originally by Austin Wintory. The piece uses similar musical elements and devices to it, whilst also being its own unique piece! Some little things I used to set the mood of the piece were: - A stepwise pitch/melody throughout the piece - Even, on-beat rhythms (no syncopation) - Swelling dynamics - The repeated motif (heard at the very start), representing walking/searching - demonstrating longing - Minor tonality: this piece is in A Minor :) - The instruments I used (harp, cello, violin, clarinet, taiko drum) have an excellent timbre when it comes to portraying the emotions I was aiming for - Legato on notes - An andante (moderately slow) speed. I believe this was at 90 BPM? I don't entirely remember, haha Okay, that's all for this overly long description of a song, haha. Playing - Pre-recorded GarageBand instruments! I did not play any of this :) Program - GarageBand
