“Wh-What’s going on?” the frightened girl whispered from behind him, Kyshiro flinched as both of her hands clasped around one of his legs; squeezing tightly. “What’re you two doing out there?” Aegi’s father was roaring. The glass door swung open as the man stepped out into the windy night, the gale whooshing louder than a banshee’s scream, “Git in here! Don’ you know it’s dangerous?” “Wh-What was that crash, Sam?” Beau whimpered, “Was it a monster?” “It was just a falling chair,” Kyshiro said gently, lifting his leg out of the girl’s grip. He stepped to the side, revealing the trembling child as she sat on the cold floor. Kyshiro offered a hand, giving her a wary smile underneath the hood, “Nothing’s going to hurt you.” He really wished that those words were true. He wanted to make them true. But then there was his little problem. Which could put everyone here in danger. Kyshiro bit his lip, making up his mind. Once he managed to find Beau’s parents, he would set his path and go home. He almost shuddered at the word, his heart beating in sync with doom. “That’s it, that’s it,” Aegi’s dad was grumbling angrily, opening the door for the scraggers in the rain. “Git in here, git in here.” Kyshiro jerked his head around once he felt something in his hand, a small warm object. Beau was looking back up at him, looking frightened. Kyshiro gave her a wary smile. “It’s okay,” he said quietly, “I’m going to find your dads, don’t worry,” he nodded his head, “Okay?” Beau sniffled, wiping her nose with her arm. She gripped his hand tightly, looking at his fingers. “Your hand is cold.” Kyshiro chuckled, patting her shoulder with his other hand. “Please, sir.” A desperate voice near the entrance alerted Kyshiro’s attention, making him turn his head, “My husband and I really need-” “No, it's too dangerous out there. You two from Clyvenfield or…?” “Yes, yes we are, but we really need to find our-” “Then you know exactly why I can't let you out right now. The clan is going to have all of their thugs out and looking for rich folk like you. Blimey, even Kyshiro Bayside Shima's gone insane, you hear the news?” Kyshiro's heart dropped a beat, his eyes widening. His fingers twitched together violently, his whole arm beginning to shake. The news had spread already? Oh, he shouldn't be here. He really shouldn't be here. He knew that coming here was a mistake. Darn it! Beau looked up at him with large eyes, her gentle brown iris flickering around his hooded face. “Sam?” She whispered quietly, “Are you okay?” Kyshiro hastily nodded his head, concealing his emotions with a swift and easy snap of his fingers. “Ye-yeah,” he said, containing his panicked breathing, “Let's go check out the situation up there, hmm?” Beau inclined her head to the side, then nodded her head. “Anything you say, Sam.” “Okay, um, follow me then…”
Honestly, he thought it was a horrible idea, but at the same time the people at the doorway could possibly be the people he was looking for. He didn't have too many leads though and besides, that would be the biggest coincidence that ever appeared in history. Grinding his teeth together, he quickened his pace, ignoring the butterflies in his stomach. He tried to focus on other things as he walked forward, tailcoat whishing around his ankles. Hmm yes… The floor was made of floor. Lovely. Ah, and the wall was made of wall. Whoaaaa… Eventually, Kyshiro could see Aegi’s father’s pink rubber suit in the corner of his eye, the man’s thick hands curling inwards and outwards. “What’s stopping me from sayin’ his name?” he was saying grouchily, “It’s not like Kyshiro is going to hop out of the walls or anything.” He nearly flinched, but bit his lip and lifted a hand up to pull his hood down further instead. “Yeah but still,” one of the people protested hastily, “He’s the son of Lord.” The stress was overwhelming his nerves, causing his heart to speed up and his breathing to harshen and unharshen rapidly. Though, through it all, he managed to puff out a normal breath, turning his head to glance down at Beau. She seemed to be examining his hand, running a small thumb over his knuckles. Kyshiro gave a weak smile, then turned back around, setting his eyes on the two shaded figure standing near the doorway, arguing with Aegi’s father. Okay… He puffed out another breath, then quickened his pace, walking into sight. “Eh?” The pink clothed man turned his head around his shoulders, arching his eyebrows, “Whatchu need, kiddo?” The two shaded figures turned their heads to look in his direction, revealing two men that seemed to be around their twenties. One of them was paler skinned with green eyes and the other one was deep rich brown with gentle blue eyes. They both looked overly worried, brows crinkled and fingers twiddled together so tightly that their knuckles were a shade of violent white. However, a loud outburst from his side distracted Kyshiro from the two people standing in front of him. “Daddy!” Kyshiro felt Beau’s small hand slip from his grasp, then saw her small figure dart across the room, skidding to a stop in front of both of the men; a delighted smile on her face, “How did you find me?” The men exchanged glances, then one of them bent down with a thrilled look on his face. He held out his thin arms, green eyes gleaming in happiness. “Beau!” he exclaimed, gripping the girl around the torso and wrapping her in a tight hug, “We’ve been looking everywhere for you!” Beau squealed happily, jumping up and down and turning towards her other father. She wrapped her small arms around his legs, laughing as he chuckled breathlessly and ruffled up her hair. “There you are my little princess,” he laughed jollily, “your dad and I were worried sick.” Beau released him, beaming as she looked at the two of them. Then, Kyshiro’s heart stopped and his entire body went cold as she turned over to look at him, smiling widely. “Dads,” she said cheerfully, pointing directly at Kyshiro’s head, “this is Sam. He helped me!” Kyshiro’s heart was literally beating faster than a race car, he could hardly bring himself to breathe. Both of the men locked their gazes on his body… And immediately, Kyshiro knew something was wrong. The expressions… The glimmering in the eyes… All of it was fake. “Thanks so much for keeping our daughter safe,” one of the men said, bowing lowly to the ground. Gosh, even the tone was fake, realistically so but Kyshiro knew that he could hold himself accountable for scouting out what was fake and what was the real deal. He did it all of the time. The other man nodded his head gratefully, taking massive steps forward and sticking out a warm hand. Kyshiro flinched, recoiling and then cursing himself internally. “Samath was it?” the man said cheerily, wiggling his hand, trying to urge Kyshiro to take it, “Thank you so much.” All of it… All of it was fake. But why would two parents not feel anything when their missing daughter was brought back to them? Kyshiro’s eyebrows scrunched up, his fingers twitching nervously. Whatever it was… Something was wrong. “Mhm,” Kyshiro said, cautiously reaching outwards to take the man’s hand, “y-yeah, um… No p-problem.” The man let out a hearty laugh, grinning widely. He reached over and squeezed Kyshiro roughly against the shoulder, a little too hard. He winced, but the man didn’t even stop, just smiling a closed eyed smile. “Urm, hey…” Part 3: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/733141332 Part 5: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/733143700
