Pain zipped all over his arms as he skidded back forcefully, his heels scraping against the metallic ground. He twisted his foot around in a clean circle, stopping himself before he crashed into the wall. He shook out his arms, narrowing his eyes to gaze upon the sniggering shadow standing in the middle of the room. Kyshiro puffed out a breath, wondering what he was even doing. He didn’t know how to fight. Why was he trying to save these people even though he had no skills whatsoever? He couldn’t punch through a wall. He couldn’t demolish a person with a gaze. He couldn’t even hold a conversation with someone for more than ten minutes on end without his cheerful mask slipping off. He was just some rich boy who was holding up the ho-hum lifestyle with the side effect of being tormented and tortured by his father. Kyshiro shook his head, banishing his overthinking. He was here. In this position. And he was going to deal with it. “Hmm,” the shadow warbled, eerie black and gray eyes narrowing in deep amusement, “looks like I overestimated you.” It lunged forward, mouth unhinging as if it was on gears. Slimy tongues shot out of its throat, twirling and curling. Kyshiro’s eyes widened and he twisted to the side, his ankle groaning in protest as he rolled it over. The lashing whips grazed his cloak, smashing violently into the pale wall. He stumbled away, tripping over pieces of rubble as he went. He whirled his arms around in a circle, stabilizing his feet onto the ground. The tongues shot out of the wall, darting directly towards his exposed forehead. Kyshiro dropped to the ground, twisting recklessly on his feet to scramble away. His hands stung as they scraped over rough pieces of rubble but he ignored it, jumping to his feet. He kicked a small piece of granite upwards, gripping it between his elegant fingers. The whips were launching after him, the shadowy veins throbbing violently. He spun on his feet, his heels groaning in protest. He dashed backwards, directly towards the bodiless shadow who was tilting its head quizzically. Kyshiro twirled the piece of granite between his fingers, feeling for the sharpest edge. The rushing of the veins behind him increased, the dark shadows crashing loudly against the walls. Kyshiro ground his teeth, increasing his speed up to a painful level, the strain on his left leg getting stronger. “Running right at me darlin’ are we?” It purred in a disgusting oily tone, eyes narrowing in amusement. Alright. Here goes nothing. Kyshiro dashed forward quickly, his feet slapping against the ground. His tailcoat billowed behind him, whipping against his legs. Gnashing his teeth together, he surged forward. The far from graceful movement shot him through the air, directly towards the shadow’s blotchy nose. He slashed his hand downwards, the sharp tip of the piece of granite coming down towards that tiny little spot of red. SPLAT The shadow howled in agony, the hand extending out of its torso recoiling rapidly. The head hit the ground with a loud slap, the eerie black and gray eyes spinning around and around. Kyshiro hit the ground, his knees scraping over the metallic floor. A hot sting zipped across his kneecaps, making him grunt as he rolled to a stop, hitting the glass entry door. He groaned softly, but very slowly brought himself to his feet, gripping his aching arm. He hissed softly, his forehead throbbing. Dizzily, he glanced down at the figure on the ground. The shadow was sprawled across the floor, its head thrown carelessly to the side. Its extended hand flopped on the ground, limp and unmoving. Its fingers twitched once, but then went entirely still. He blinked, his gaze shifting warily to the head in the corner. Its eyes were gently spinning around in circles, its mouth gaping open in shock. However, what was most shocking wasn’t the granite piece sticking out of the shadow’s nose. Instead, it was how bloody it was. Dark purple, almost black, blood dripped from the wound Kyshiro had created. It spurt out in large amounts, coating the floor around it in a moat of thick, slimy gore. Suddenly feeling like his lungs were compressing on themselves, Kyshiro gripped his forehead, his fingernails digging into his scalp. Oh. He forgot about the “trigger”.
At the sight of blood, Kyshiro’s little problem would take over control of his body. It had already happened once and Kyshiro really didn’t want it to happen again, not here. Not when there were so many people around. His heart jerked around in circles, starting to beat rapidly. His vision swarmed and his body started to sway from side to side. No. Forcing himself back to reality and ignoring the loud giggling echoing from inside of his heart, he concentrated on the other shadow, who was quietly kneeling over its fallen comrade; eyes enraged. Its head snapped up, wickedly sharp teeth gleaming in the dim light. “You little broken excuse of a body,” it snarled, straightening its spine. Dangerous black eyes turned narrowed and feral, the veins removing from its mouth and up into its head instead. Kyshiro blinked, then blandly pointed at the shadow resting on the ground, masking his unease. “Leave the man’s body and maybe I won’t have to knock you out of it.” He lifted his head, then strode over and grabbed the fallen shadow by the foot. He turned his back on the other shadow, using both of his hands to get a firm gripping on the limp limb. He threw the body out of the glass entry doors, pleasuring in hearing it shatter. Glass clattered to the ground, some of it blowing away in the rushing wind. The body fell feet away from the shop, bouncing lightly just like a volleyball. Kyshiro gave it one last glance, pieces of a plan gathering in his head, before swiftly turning around, his tailcoat rushing against him. “So…” a false confident smirk; it was so much easier pretending under the hood, “How about it?” Baring its teeth, it shot forward, legs stamping against the ground and veins protruding out of its forehead like some kind of morbid unicorn. Kyshiro spun around and darted out of the doorway, ignoring the stitch already rubbing against his ribs. His body throbbed with pain every time he moved, the scabs on his back feeling oddly warmed. His leg groaned in protest, sending sharp spasms up his thighs. He let out a puff of breath, wondering why in the devil he threw the other shadow so far. Thankfully, he was able to reach the limp figure, a hand stretching out to grab a leg as he rushed by. His hand brushed mere shadowy vapor. Oh, he missed. Lovely. Sighing in annoyance at himself, he continued dashing forward, the wind crashing against him. His hood flung off, revealing his face. Kyshiro didn’t bother trying to cover it, turning his head around to catch a glimpse of his pursuer. It had crashed out of the shop, its long forehead vein shooting out to latch onto another building. The towering pitch black building groaned in protest as the body collided into it, glass shattering and falling to the ground. Rain whipped at his face, but he ignored the sting, focusing on only his breath as he continued to dash through the eerily lit streets. The hovering orbs flickered and warbled through the storm, some of them even lost their balance and fell to the ground, shattering dangerously. The streets, very slowly but surely, were going to go black. His heart rammed against his ribs, begging for him to stop. His lungs were constricting violently, each breath a struggle. Kyshiro panted for air, ignoring the pulsing pain in his back and legs. He forced himself to keep going, knowing that the crashing and banging behind him wasn’t his imagination. “You think you can run forever?” It bellowed, its voice echoing across the metallic buildings and making them shake, “You’ve got some nerve, Shima.” “If you can’t catch someone with a bad leg,” he hollered back, “then maybe you’ve been in that box for too long.” He winced upon hearing the shriek of irritation, the sound like tattered nails on a chalkboard. Getting an idea, he turned his head around his shoulder, giving the furious creature an annoying wink. “You arrogant rich bastard,” it snarled, increasing its speed. Its wild arms crashed into windows, smashing the thickest of glass so loudly that it was louder than a rifle, “Provoking me won’t do you any good.” Kyshiro laughed dryly, skidding on his feet as he abruptly turned into another passage. It grumbled in annoyance, “Playing a coward’s move are we, huh?” The shadow crashed in after him, knocking over a bunch of lights with a singular swoop. Its vein retracted from its head, popping out of its hands instead. The sharp spikes jutted into the narrow walling, dust falling into the alleyway like snow. “Not every brave move is a smart one,” Kyshiro retorted, eyes shifting back and forth to note his surroundings. The bricking of the surrounding walls were eerily stained, dark red marks and splatters smeared across the gravel. ~ Annnnnndddd done! XD Sorry it's so long!
