Try the remix tree: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/733338490/remixtree Those pesky barrels are back with a medieval twist against the crenellated stone wall of a regal castle! Starting from the bottom, the climbers must sprint across all four floors & ascend towards the chequered goal in order to gain 'wins' and increase the difficulty. It's easier said than done, as all sorts of barrels are constantly rolled out across the platform & down to the bottom, which the player must jump over to avoid bumps, squishes, KOs, and other crazy effects. The climbers can use ladders to help them reach the top quicker, but barrels can tumble down them and get in the way of that. The higher the difficulty, the faster barrels will roll out. If our daring crew takes too long to reach the top, the difficulty will decrease to make it easier. That being said, will they be able to reach the gruelling maximum Difficulty 10.0?! We'll have to wait and see. Hover over a character to see their name and amount of wins. If the thumbnail appears while the project is still running, click/tap it to hide it. Please note that the layering may be inaccurate at certain points... ==== HOW 2 REMIX ==== Want to add more players climbing the castle? Follow these instructions carefully to get them in: 1. Scroll down below these instructions & read the rules! Don't proceed until you have. 2. Comment "Remixing..." to notify others, then click the green 'Remix' button at the top-right corner. 3. Create a duplicate of the "Player0" sprite. (right-click the sprite on the sprite list, then click "duplicate") 4. Create your character! Replace every costume in the duplicated sprite with your character, replace all "Voice" sound clips (at the bottom of the sound list) with your character's voice, & set their name, Run-animation and sound-amount settings. If you wish, you can also change their Footstep & Jump sounds. 5. Test your project &, if you like the result, either continue to add more characters or share it! 6. Modify the title to match the current remix number & amount of climbers. You're also allowed to add characters to the thumbnail & add more music tracks. ==== RULES ==== Only , , , , , , and are allowed to break these rules. Rules marked with a (!) can ONLY be broken by , nobody else! (!) 1. Remember REMIX ETIQUETTE: Comment "Remixing..." in the comments before starting a remix so people know not to accidentally split the remix tree's branches. If you don't intend to make a new remix branch, then don't remix if someone has commented "Remixing...". (!) 2. DO NOT BREAK SCRATCH'S COMMUNITY GUIDELINES (SCG), so nothing too scary, gory or vulgar!! (!) 3. Don't add or remove anyone from the breaking rules list without permission. Furthermore, don't delete any of these rules or instructions & don't completely change the project title either. 4. Don't delete or ruin anything you didn't make, unless to fix glitches, errors or rule-breaks, delete unused scripts, or (only if you're a rule-breaker) to add a new feature to the game. 5. Don't make your characters too large, that would make it hard to see or make them too inaccurate compared to their hitbox. I suggest scaling your character assets IN THE COSTUME EDITOR to match the size of the other characters before making your other costumes. 6. I don't recommend adding any singular characters that appear to be 2 separate characters (EG: Mario & Luigi both as 1 player), unless they are stuck together with no feasible way to physically detach them. 7. Don't delete any music tracks unless they break the SCG. If you don't want to listen to a certain song or genre, utilize the "audio exemption" functionality to make sure you can't. 8. On the topic of music, please also refer to the Music comment's recommended music limit so this project's file size doesn't bloat too quickly. 9. You can add yourself to the thumbnail, but please don't delete any characters off it (unless they must be removed due to breaking the rules) or completely change it altogether. 10. If you are part of the "breaking rules" list, you're allowed to add a new rule if needed. Remember to add it to both the RULE RECAP comment and the project's instructions! Make sure you double-check these rules in the thumbnail just before you share the project. Don't let your remix be UNOFFICIALIZED by broken rules, or else it'll likely be abandoned. ==== LIST OF BARREL TYPES ==== https://justpaste.it/BURG-BarrelCastle-BarrelTypes
One day during a morning constitutional, Sidmouth the Pointy, the gloriously rich Spiked Barrelguy, came upon the ruins of an ancient castle. Having recently gotten too rich to fit all his money into his thousands of finest-china piggybanks, grand ol' Sid had some cash to burn and thus decided "Let's restore this cracked-down castle to it's former cracking top-notch glory." With the help of the Barrel Squad, the hiring of other fellow builder barrels, and numerous hefty investments, after 2.3 long months the royally majestic fort was whole again, and Sidmouth thereby declared it BARREL CASTLE! Just two problems: One, Sidmouth spent so much money that he was no longer a millionaire, just a nine-thousiandaire. Two, the built-in security system meant to chuck inanimate barrels at burgulars was malfunctioning & kept bowling barrels down all the stairs & ladders without ever turning off! Clever Barney Barrel came to the rescue with a solution that filled two oil barrels with one reservoir: "Let's turn this into a community obstacle course... for charity!" And so this AY-minigame was born. With just the payment of [insert expensive amount of money here], daring challengers like YOU can take on the chaotic floors of this here castle, dodging barrels coming this-way-that to raise the wins, raise the difficulty, and raise awareness for the wellbeing of barrels across the globe! And prickly Sidmouth is poor no more. Ehhh... That was a bit of a silly backstory. =P This minigame is a spinoff of @ZYellow's "Barrel Extravaganza" (https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/549270792/ ) which in turn was inspired by two of my own AY-minigames: Raining Bomb Survival 2 and Douglas's Boulder Game v2. The arena is also heavily inspired by 25m from Nintendo's "Donkey Kong" (which, if you didn't know yet, was the first ever game starring Mario). This is my first completely-original AY-minigame in a long while - this year's only had two seasonal spinoffs so far. It's also my first AY-minigame to use the clone-player system @ZYellow introduced in Desktop Distress - I was originally developing this with the traditional way, but decided to switch after the amount of code-per-player shoved the player-limit too low for me to accept. With this system (implemented with more efficiency than how I feel ZYellow did it), the minigame should hopefully be able to surpass 35 players and go WAY beyond this old average! CREDIT TO ALL, INCLUDING: - @ZYellow for the original barrel assets, helping contribute to their redesigning, creating Barney Barrel and Featherweight Frankie's player assets, originally inventing the Barrel Squad (based off my ideas) & the clone-player system, and most importantly creating the original AY-minigame that inspired this one: Barrel Extravaganza! - Nintendo for being the original creators of Donkey Kong, the first stage of which inspired this AY-minigame aswell. - @-Rex- for being the creator of PTE++ ( https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/406678232/ ) - JJ for being the original creator of the ERNY series. - Cookie-Clicker Cam-Cam for originally being planned to voice Erny here. I did him myself since I couldn't get him available. - All creators of any music and SFX featured, including Nintendo, HUDSON, naruto2413, Sega, Sonic Team, Silicon Studio, Toby Fox, Disney, Pixar, Traveller's Tales, Tiertex Design Studios, Nickelodeon, Sony, THQ, Climax Studios, Duncan Lamont, Martin Kershaw, BRUTON MUSIC, and others. - @Burgnew_On_A_Laptop, for making this AY-minigame! Cheers to you. :3 ==== DEV-TIME LOG ==== After working on the barrel vectors from 13/08/2022 to 17/08/2022, developing the original code initially lasted from 18/08/2022 to 17/09/2022, when low player limits forced me to overhaul the player scripts to use clones like in @ZYellow's 'Desktop Distress'. This version was developed from 17/09/2022 to 26/10/2022 before eventually adding Barney and Frankie on 7/11/2022 & being shared on 8/11/2022, with the original scripts remaining in project-ID 721639431. Overall, the project took 86 days to complete, from beginning to sharing. No work was done in these time periods: 22/08/2022 to 24/08/2022 (preparing assets for @ZYellow's Desktop Distress) 28/04/2022 to 03/09/2022 (break from Scratch during a summer holiday) 07/09/2022 to 09/09/2022 (other projects, mostly in respect for queen elizabeth II's passing) 13/09/2022 & 16/09/2022 (other projects) 22/09/2022 (break from Scratch) 24/09/2022 to 25/09/2022 (other projects & events) 03/10/2022 to 04/10/2022 (another project & procrastination )= 09/10/2022 (spent the day off of Scratch) 22/10/2022 and 26/10/2022 (couldn't be bothered)=> 29/10/2022 to 5/11/2022 (waiting for ZYellow to finish Barney and Frankie)
