My heart pounds and my breath stops when I realize he's actually dissapeared somewhere. "FATHER!" I yell. No use of that, the thunder drowns out everything. I gulp and go inside. Mother is packing all of the kitchen supplies and Oscar is scurrying around, picking up all of his little toy cars. "Lola dear, please get your father, I told you already-" Mother says, then looks at me. "Did you get him?" "He's not there." I manage to say. Mandy walks downstairs with a suitcase. "Who's not here?" "Father." "Good riddance." "Mandy!" Mother cries. "Take that back, your Father is a good man." We all look at her for a moment and she pales. "Well- he's not perfect." She stutters. She quickly starts busying herself with the supplies again. She's hiding something. "Well Lola, get packing." She says, her voice is full of worry. "I'll tell the police when we get to..." She trailed off and continued removing things from the kitchen cabinet. Sighing, I go upstairs and haul out my suitcase. I began packing my clothes and my other belongings, and in a half hour I'm ready to leave. When I get back downstairs, everything is empty. A small knot forms in my stomach and I swallow the lump in my throat. "Lola, come on." Oscar takes my hand and leads me out the door into the rain. I look back one last time at home before getting in the car and closing my eyes. I try to remember every bit of it. It has a red farmhouse look, with a little porch with a fire pit and a picnic table. When you go inside, the floor and the walls are wood, and the floor is freezing in the winter. To your right is a wooden dining table, and to your left is the living room. We have a brown couch and a TV that loses internet and only has one channel. Right next to it is a door leading to my parents room. In the back of the house we have a small kitchen and a bathroom on the other side. Then we have the swirly stairs that shake when anybody uses them. It leads upstairs to the loft, where we have two beds (Mine and Oscar's) and Mandy's room, which is separate from ours. All of these tiny details I'm trying so hard to remember. So I don't realize when I fall asleep.
