There once was a state. In the state was a town. In the town there was a forest. In the forest there was a tree. The tree was an Evergreen. Mira was not happy. Her birthday was ruined, because she had no one to invite. She missed living in the city. So when her mother suggested she take a walk in the forest, Mira was more than happy to be away from the little cottage she shared with her mom and dad. She walked for hours. And hours. Well, it looked like hours, because the moon was up in the sky, even though her phone said it was 3:30 PM. At long last, she came upon a tree. Well, there were trees everywhere, but this one was thriving with lush green leaves, in the middle of a circle of dead bushes. Mira went in for a closer look. There was a note carved on the tree. It said, "Can you read me?" Mira, for reasons she did not know, picked up a rock and carved the word "Yes." To her surprise, the word "Good" carved itself on the tree! Next thing Mira knew, she was waking up in her bed. Her alarm said 4:50 PM. She checked the date, and it was the same day that she took a walk in the forest. Mira felt upset. The tree was apparently magic, and it could communicate with Mira. It was the closest thing she could have gotten to a friend. Well, Mira thought to herself, I will not live the rest of my life friendless. She got up, and walked to the park. She found a girl that was reading a book by herself. Mira walked over and said, "Hello, my name is Mira." The girl smiled. "Hi. My name is Forest Evergreen."
This is my entry for @-CoolCandy- 's contest. (OMG I WON!!!!!!) (This is not meant to be a horror story, despite the ending. It was meant to show that you can be friends with anything as long as you try.)
