The Writing in the Mist- Chapter 3 I awoke suddenly with a jolt. The train had stopped moving and everyone was being dismissed. “Miss Cassidy,” the cabin man continued, “We have stopped at Wisconsin and it is time for you to go.” “Yes sir, I will do so now.” I said embarrassed, I had probably looked like a hot-mess when I got up from sleeping. Immediately after I stepped off the platform, my friend rushed at me. We hadn’t seen each other in over five years, because her dream was to live closer to her brother in Wisconsin. Ruth has been my best friend since middle school and she has been there supportive in all I have been through, even when she had moved we kept in contact for a while. “CASSIDY IT HAS BEEN TO LONG!!!” Ruth yelled excitedly as she gave me a hug. “Honestly, I haven't seen you in over five years!” I replied back lively. When her delightful attitude changed it surprised me. She looked at me with pity it made me feel like a helpless little thing.. “Oh Cassidy I'm so sorry for what happened I-” She paused, her face looking grim. I tried to smile but I felt like I was falling into a deep, dark, secluded hole. “Ah it's… fine, perfectly fine.” I said anxiously trying to avoid any more further detail into the subject. “Well on that note let's go!” she said, trying to lighten up the mood. I then stated with no intention, “ Yea, let's go.”
