SPRING - DTA ENTRY ~Story~ Little Spring was separated from his family before he was even hatched. It was a new moon, and the tides were VERY HIGH. The currents took his egg and brushed it upon the shore. Spring didn't know what was happening, of course, since he was in his egg. Hours passed by as Spring's egg lay on the soft sand outside the water. Days passed, and eventually it was time for Spring to hatch. When he was outside his egg, his instincts told him to go to the water. But, there was a problem. Once someone from in the water left, it was almost impossible to get back in because of the heavy force of enchantments the water had on it. This was to protect the ocean animals from the land animals. Back before there even was a difference between ocean and land animals, they all lived together on land. But one group wanted to move to the water, and the other wanted to keep them on land. So they started war. One night, the ocean animal's leader snuck the ocean group to the ocean and placed the enchantments so no one could come in other than them. But the land animals still wanted them on land. So they put a curse on the ocean so anyone who left the ocean for any reason couldn't go back in. Of course the ocean animals didn't like this, so they created a special gem that would let any water animal who stepped out back in. Then they tossed it into a shrub from the water. But the land animals found it, and smashed it. The only way anyone could fix it was to locate all the pieces and pour water on top. The pieces were hidden all over the land. Spring started crawling and felt something sharp in his leg. A piece of the gem. Spring picked it up, and dug a hole in the sand for it to hide. Just as he was covering up the hole, he heard rustling. A land animal. He scurried off in the bushes. He was now in the forest. He spotted a hollowed - out tree. That is where he lived. ~Years later~ Spring was now the gem hunter. He had figured out that he was a water animal and needed to get home before the land animals found him. He had succeeded in hiding from them for six years, but only managed to find 4 pieces of the gem out of 9. He went out to search again, but this time, after 3 hours, he spotted something glistening. It was 5 pieces of gem! But...why all five in the same spot? He didn't know, but of course scooped up the pieces. He ran back to his home, grabbed the other pieces, and put them together. He also found a small pond near by, and quickly dumped the pieces in the water. He waited for it... nothing. Nothing happened. But then the pieces dissolved on his paws. It was fake! Anger piled up inside of him. SO many years of searching for a FAKE gem!? But the water seemed to want to help him, and brought a bottle up towards him from the bottom of the pond. He snatched it and opened it. A note was inside! He quickly took it out and unfolded it. It was no note- it was a map to the gem! He read the small, sloppy font. "It was not true the land animals smashed the gem. They tried to, but it did not break. So the leader of them took it and guards it to this day. They wanted the ocean animals to think that they did smash it, so they created fakes. But the guards who were hiding the fake pieces got lazy, and put five pieces together." Spring looked down at the map. It led to the castle of the land animals. But- there was a underwater secret passage in this pond!? Spring realized he couldn't go in the water with all the enchantments without the gem, but no one put enchantments on the pond! He dove in to feel the cool water brush his fur. The last time he had been in water was when he was in his egg. He expected the map to disintegrate, but it stayed dry. He soon found the dug-out place the map said was the secret tunnel. He swam inside. It was dry inside. He walked along, glancing at the map every 30 steps. It seemed like forever, but the tunnel suddenly turned up to reveal a pothole placed right in the middle of the leader's room. He hoped the leader was not there. He pushed the pothole aside, and poked his head outside of it. There was the leader's throne, and right next to it, was the gem. Unfortunately, the leader was there. He was going to have to make a run for it. 3...2...1... He jumped out of the pothole, surprising the leader, and sprinted for the gem. The leader was in shock, no one had ever tried to take the gem. But he soon got the memo that Spring was stealing from him. He jumped up just as Spring jumped back in the pothole. The leader was on his tail. They ran down the tunnel, but with every twist, the leader stayed behind Spring. But the exit through the pond was ahead. That's it- the pond! The ocean animals were WAY faster in water than the land animals! He shot through the tunnel, and blasted to the top of the pond. He jumped out, sprinted towards the water- AND JUMPED IN! He had made it. He was home. ~Credits~ Thank you for the DTA! This was super fun to make! :D
