Miracles are dead By: Imade Ighile Miracles are dead “Miracles are real.” - Megan house. I quoted from a famous writer I know of. “Miracles are fake Lilly.” My older brother, Mason said. “No!” I snapped back at him. He laughed then asked, “Have you had any so-called miracles?” I pouted, and crossed my arms, “No.” I said gloomy, then he nodded, “Exactly.” I looked down and took a sip of water from my cup. “I’m leaving, bye Lily. Also, don't forget to enjoy your so-called miracles.” I rolled my eyes, “Whatever.” A few minutes later my phone rang “Ding!” I ignored it. Until it dingged for a second time. I grabbed it, “What?!” I yelled, when I answered the phone. I heard “Miracles are dead. Come and I'll explain. Pack. For two or three days.” I stared at the phone, “No.” The call was labeled: “Unknown number” But I didn’t notice that. “Okay, I have Mason. Come if you want him to live.” When I heard that I packed a few things and quickly rushed outside. “Where?” I asked my phone, looking around. “Turn left, straight, straight, when you see the sign ‘Greenwood street’ take a right, then another right, go into the warehouse. Go alone.” I did as they asked. I went alone. Soon I was there, “Noah you better pray this isn’t a joke.” I took out a taser and kitchen knife I brought from home. Don't worry about where I got the taser from. I hid it in the pockets of my sweater. I walked inside. “I’m alone.” I said. “Good, here he is.” I looked at the person, squinting. Her hair was blonde, and she had green eyes, “Who are you?” I asked, even though that wasn’t what I really wanted to ask. “You seriously don’t remember me? You almost killed my younger brother!” I put my hands in my pockets, guiltily, “Emily?” She nodded. “Right . . Now I’ll make a deal with you, since I'm in a somewhat good mood today. If I get you instead, your brother goes free….if not, well,” She pulled out a knife prepared to slit his throat, cocked her head a little to the left and shrugged. “He dies.” I walked closer, slowly, “Mason…” Mason shook his head, signaling for me to turn back. “I’ll do it.” I said, looking back and Emily. “Good girl.” She cut Mason loose and pushed him off the chair. “Your turn.” I walked and sat on the chair. “I have a question.” I asked. Emily rolled her eyes, “What?” I smirked, “You said I should come alone? Did you say anything about weapons?” She looked at me wide-eyended, “Y- Wait!” I didn’t manage to get out right before she stabbed me. “W-what? Miracles are really dead….” I fell to the ground. My blood began to pour out like water. Mason ran up to me and hugged me tightly. “Lily! Emily, you'll regret this!” Emily laughed, “Miracles are DEAD. He was dead because of her.” Mason grabbed a taser out of my pocket and zapped her. Next, he grabbed the knife and stabbed her about ten times or more. “Mason, you were right. Miracles are dead.” Emily dropped to the floor. “Don’t worry Lily you’ll be alright.” As he dialed 911 my eyes closed, “Mason, it’s over. Miracles are dead. I love you.” I hugged him, my blood dripping everywhere. I closed my eyes. I heard sirens, but I knew I wouldn’t survive. I needed to fight for him. But I couldn’t. My heart stopped beating. I was gone. Dead. Deceased. Disappeared. “Miracles are dead.” That was my last thought. And my last words.
