01 - When did you start really getting into drawing? uhhhhhh idk i think i realised i was passionate about it in grade 3 or 4 and started taking it more seriously in grade 5 maybe??? 02 - What made you really interested in art? idk ive always loved it ??? i guess it was mainly the idea of turning all my fantastical thoughts and ideas into something beautiful that can be perceived by the human eye. idk i blurring the line between reality and fantasy ?? 03 - Is art your main hobby, or are there other activities you like to do even more? art is probably my main pastime (it feels like more than a hobby idk),, but i also do a lot of music stuff 04 - Would you like to attend an art school? idk about going to a school specifically /for/ art, but i do wanna study fine arts at university (and/or theatrical costume design but,, thats still art ig) 05 - Would you like to have an art-related career? ABSOLUTELY. i can’t see myself doing anything else, nor can i bare the idea of doing anything but art. 06 - If yes, then what field? ideally i would love to be a concept artist or character art director for an animation company, but i would also LOVE to do something performance-arts based. costume design is also a huge interest of mine and whilst im not too talented in that area just yet, i definitely wanna give it a go one day 07 - Do you like posting your artwork online? absolutely !!! my family only care about my more serious/realistic artwork so it’s really nice to have a place where people appreciate my colourful dog drawings 08 - Which artists do you look up to? Nick Sider, Audrey Hopkins, Christopher Oram and Aaron Blaise 09 - What inspires your art and/or designs? the dark academia aesthetic, disney renaissance films, the fascinating beauty and organic nature of the real world, and the liberty & whimsical nature of the fantasy world. sorry that got deep and tacky very quickly 10 - Do you dream about drawing? sometimes yeah 11 - What experiences do you have with artblock? it happens constantly , and it sucks. sometimes ill really wanna draw a certain character from a musical and i can’t seem to draw a good face, or i’ll have a commission i need to finish but i haven’t got motivation to do it 12 - How often do you draw? almost every day 13 - How long does a piece of artwork usually take for you? fully rendered digital pieces take anywhere from half an hour to 6 hours, but most commonly take around 2 hours. traditional pieces take days lmao 14 - If you had all the time you could ever want just to draw, what would you do first? draw a really beautifully rendered lion 15 - What are some things you really want to draw, but you just haven't had the time and/or motivation? i really wanna do some acrylic portraits (that counts, right?) of broadway characters , also a HUGE acrylic canvas of a lion but i don’t have the time, motivation or patience rn sobS 16 - What do you enjoy drawing the most? lions !!!! it feels right when i draw a lion, it kinda feels like returning home after a long trip. its cliche but its true )_) 17 - Landscapes or still life? DEFINITELY still life. i love focusing on all the little details of objects and capturing their essence. landscapes are too overwhelming LMAO 18 - Cartoon, abstract, or realism? i love cartoon unconditionally, but i must confess i prefer my realistic art (when it goes to plan lol) cause i feel more successful and other people tend to appreciate it more 19 - Realistic or fantasy? a mixture of both ;) 20 - Humans or animals? it depends. i love drawing animals (especially lions) but i really enjoy it and feel so accomplished when i draw a human well 21 - Anthro or feral? either is good, but i tend to draw more realistic animal characters as feral, whereas i prefer to draw the more colourful characters as anthro 22 - Pastel, dark, natural, or neon? natural 23 - Have you ever sold art? yeah . i take DA point commissions and have been commissioned irl by people a few times 24 - Have you ever bought art? yeah 25 - Have you ever done a livestream for art? i don’t have anything to stream with but id like to!! id probably get too distracted though lol 26 - Do you like entering art contests? not really lmoa. i always end up stressing out and comparing myself to others 27 - Do you like doing art trades? YES 28 - What do you like to draw for other people? their characters!!! i love putting my own spin on other people’s beautiful and original beings 29 - How would you describe your art style? idk. organic and a bit flouncy, detailed and refined, vibey and kinda warm ?????? idk it makes sense to me but probably not to other peopLE
30 - Vent art or comfort art? comfort !!!! i struggle drawing negative emotions cause i feel them so intensely that i find them hard to depict visually haha. 31 - Do you do any animation? i used to, but it took too much time and drained my energy. now whenever i animate it’s usually some dumb 5-10 frame doodle 32 - When it comes to art, do you like to stick out or blend in more? i definitely like to stick out, but in my own way. like i don’t want to be radical, eyestraining or controversial like the dadaists and cubists, but i like to offer a unique, sensitive and beautiful perspective that stands out from the rest 33 - Have you ever taken a very long break from art? no, and i don’t think i ever could. it’s cliche af but my entire life centres around art 34 - Do you have any characters that you would adore gift art of? Link their references here! i absolutely adore any gift art of any character, but mainly characters in my sonas folder on TH !! also the characters in my mains folder— yeaH BASICALLY ANY CHARACTER LMAO 35 - Traditional, digital, or tradigital? it depends on a) what you’re drawing and b) the vibe you’re going for. traditional is better (usually) for more serious paintings and serious realism studies, but digital is far better for toony pieces or just generally drawing 36 - What's your favorite medium for traditional art? acrylics and graphite pencils !! i literally don’t use anything else anymore lol 37 - What's your favorite program for digital art? PROCREATE 100% 38 - Do you like making original art or fanart more? it depends (im sorry i say that a lot lol) i love doing fanart of my favourite broadway characters and putting my own original spin on them, though, cause they bring me a lot of joy and comfort. 39 - Do you like making art for yourself or others more? idk. i love drawing for others and offering my own perspective on other people’s characters as i mentioned earlier, but i feel like i need to take more time to draw for myself cause thats what makes me feel good 40 - Where do you like to be while you're drawing? physically, at my desk or in a studio. mentally, in a relatively positive/nonchalant but very flexible mindset 41 - What pose are you in while drawing? yall know im gay. i cant sit on a chair like a normal human being. so im usually cross legged (yes, cross legged on a desk chair) and hunched over my ipad an ungodly amount. sometimes it’s worse though lmoa like once i fell off my chair whilst drawing cause i was barely sitting on it and both my feet were on my desk sometimes i just lay on the floor and draw though 42 - Do you only spend a few minutes at a time on art, or do you draw for several hours at once? i usually do it in bursts of half an hour to an hour cause my attention span is pretty poor, but every now and then i focus on a piece for about 3-4 hours straight 43 - What's your favorite time of day to draw? after 4pm 44 - What is your art process like? it varies from piece to piece , but for most i usually just do some vague gesture lines, a rough sketch (which is ALWAYS magenta, i never sketch in any other colour), lineart (which is usually a refined sketch anyway lol) then block out the silhouette. from there, i flip the canvas and check the silhouette, change whatever i need to, then fill in the colour. after thay usually comes multiply layers (the number of which varies), then overlay layers (always at least 2), then an add layer where i see fit, and any other effects. sometimes ill colour the lineart then but usually i dont bother. finally, higHLIGHTS :D 45 - Do you like to eat/drink anything while you draw? yeah lol it’s a problem. i get bored and eat or drink something to keep myself somewhat stimulated but i definitely shouldn’t lol 46 - Do you listen to any music while you draw? yeah i usually listen to either 80s music or broadway songs 47 - What's better, viewing or creating content? creating 100000% 48 - Why do you like to draw? idk it’s just something that i can do well w/out thinking too hard lmao. it just comes so naturally and feels right when i draw ,, it’s comforting, relaxing, and i just really like creating beautiful and detailed artwork i gues .. also refer to q2 lol that answers this question pretty well too 49 - How has making art impacted you? SO MUCH,, literally my whole life revolves around the arts and visual art is at the core of it all — it’s definitely my biggest passion n i can’t imagine doing anything else with my life lol 50 - What did you think of this challenge? twas good .. i definitely got way too deep answering some of the qs lmao ~ Tag a few friends! @ idk who to tag h ~ questions were written by @mawz / @nepfox
