“Good morning, Angelpaw!” Dreampaw greeted her sister. Angelpaw smiled at her sister plainly. When Dreampaw glanced back at her face, the smile didn’t meet her eyes. Her smile faltered slightly at the discovery, but she got ready to enact her plan either way. “Morning, Dreampaw.” Angelpaw replied, getting out of the cat bed and stretching. She sighed, heading to a near mirror to adjust her fur. “So….how’d you sleep?” Dreampaw asked in a playful tone, a glint of intent in her eye. She hid her paws behind her back, her blue fur shining in the sun. “Good, funny you ask, I actually-” Angelpaw started, only to be met with paws full of dirt. “EEK!” Angelpaw squealed, dirt on her coat. Meanwhile, Dreampaw laughed up a storm, pointing at her face. “You look hilarious! Your face was PRICELESS!” Dreampaw teased, running off in the ballroom tainting the marble, glass floors with dirt. Angelpaw rolled her eyes as she ran to catch Dreampaw. Sometimes, she wondered if putting up with her was really worth it. People thought she was too strict anyway. It made her scoff, but she pushed the thought away. She’d get Dreampaw back, eventually. And not just for this one incident, for the many times she made her look like a fool. In the meantime, her halo tainted its color a little bit, flashing a dark gray. The sisters made their way through the palace in heaven. “Can’t catch me!” Dreampaw yelled and raced to the dining hall. Their paws practically danced through the shining, glass walls. As the two reached the dining hall and skidded to a halt, they saw their parents. The sisters smiled, Angelpaw putting on a more presentable expression while Dreampaw tried to refrain from laughing. “Good morning Father. Good morning Mother.” Angelpaw put on a fake, but pleasing smile. Their father glared at them while they sat down.“My dear daughters, there’s something I must tell you,” Saintred, Dreampaw and Angelpaw’s father said. Dreampaw looked at her sister worriedly. “As you all know, there are three royal clans in Heaven: The PawClan, the KitClan, and the ElementalClan,” Saintred paused, glancing at Angelpaw. “Angel, your friend LilyKate is a part of KitClan, is she not?” “She is, father.” Her gaze faltering slightly. Angelpaw had a bad feeling about this. Why would her father bring up LilyKate? Dreampaw noticed her discomfort and snuck her a piece of ‘CatTreat!’ under the table. Angelpaw, feeling a soft touch, took it but only to discard it on the floor, raising her head again. The Saintress, Dreampaw and Angelpaw’s mother turned to Saintred and whispered. “Sweetheart, I don’t know about this. The sisters might… turn against each other. I don’t want that to happen to them.” “Vanessa, this must happen, it’s what's best for Heaven.” Saintred replied, slightly irritated. “Recently, the Clans have been discussing a new saintress. Again, LilyKate is the only daughter of the KitClan, and she is not of age. The ElementalClan’s batch of elementals can’t be sent off to earth until the next 50 years, as they stay in training.” Saintress continued, forking his meal with great manners. “That only leaves us, but we decided to take a poll. The citizens of Heaven will decide who to choose, so I expect you to be on your best behavior, yes?” He asked, tilting his head as he picked and chewed a treat. The girls nodded in obedience. The Saintred, done with his meal, rose up, giving the girls one last chat. “Remind you, this doesn’t affect us. Your performances are the only ones that will matter, alone.” And with that, the Saintred was done with his daily lecture for the day, leaving the girls to sit in mixed emotions. The Saintress, forced to agree, sighed and obliged. She continued to sip her cup of tea and gave the girls worried glances. Angelpaw stared at her sister desolately, a dull expression filling her eyes. Dreampaw swore she saw a sly smirk cross her face, but brushed it off. They had worse matters to attend too. Speaking of this, Angelpaw had been hearing some rumors about the poll lately, but never looked into it. She had more important matters to attend to. Now that it was brought up, and in two weeks, she knew she had to win. The problem was Dreampaw, her sister, was more liked around Heaven. Dreampaw was more beautiful and kind than Angelpaw. She would be a great Saintress. Angelpaw would be one too, it’s just she’s less likely to be voted.Additionally, in the span of 2 weeks, it would be nearly impossible to get so many people to vote for her. Heaven has a population of 5.3M people. By then, she would only have reached 1000 of them and earned 100 for her vote. Angelpaw thought of a solution, hardly touching her breakfast. “Darling, eat your breakfast.” The Saintress reminded sweetly but commandingly. Meanwhile, Dreampaw fidgeted with her pancakes, using her fork to move it around.“Mother, I’m not very hungry,” Angelpaw started. “May I be excused? I need to…get some fresh air.”
The Saintress gave Angelpaw another worried glance, but gave her the permission to leave the premises, ordering a nearby servant to clean up their plates. Angelpaw fluttered her wings and headed off farther into the Gates of Heaven, leaving Dreampaw alone. As Angelpaw flew through Heaven, she glanced around for her friend, LilyKateKat. LilyKateKat (preferably LilyKate) was one of her bestfriends. They had been friends since kittens, and their families were both Royal and had formed a peaceful and on-going truce. “The perfect Alliance,’’ Her mother had said once. “Don’t embarrass us, Angel. I trust these people. Public humiliations in heaven won’t stop the rumors. They go anywhere they want.” She warned Angelpaw when she was only so much but a kit. For some reason, it burned in her head to this day. Angelpaw remembered that LilyKate’s favorite place was the Enchanted Kitty Fountain, as she claimed to have “magical powers” whenever she went there, so Angelpaw flew there first. “LilyKate! Are you there?” Angelpaw called out, landing softly and gracefully on the tiles of the fountain floor. Her paws clicking with each step she made closer, watching the glistening waters of the fountain rush calmly. She felt a cold sting from the bottom of her foot. She had stepped on a HalCoin (currency for heaven), was this her lucky day? As Angelpaw flipped the coin (Heads = Good, Tails = Bad), she silently prayed. She believed in gods, but she didn’t believe in whatever nonsense name that all cats used to worship in heaven. That was gibberish! Just a lie to make people devote their lives to a statue. Unlike Dreampaw, she was a proud CatLick (catholic). Always praying at meals, always praying at trips, always praying. And for what? Angelpaw shook her head, throwing the coin in the fountain. Soon enough, a girl came stumbling upon Angelpaw, heavily panting and out of breath. She wiped the sweat from her fur and turned her attention to Angelpaw, smiling a cheesy smile. “LilyKate! That’s no way to greet your future saintress.” Angelpaw teased. It got a laugh out of LilyKate, straightening and perfecting her posture, along with dusting her fur. “I assume that’s why you're here? The news troubling you?” LilyKate asked, ordering a servant to sit them at a table. Angelpaw winced. “Is it that obvious?” LilyKate nodded. LilyKate ordered a cup of Heavenly Tea with two sugars for both of them. It was their personal favorite, the proper tea for discussing topics like this. “So,” LilyKate started. “You want to win, right? What about Dreampaw?” Angelpaw placed down her cup, letting her head rest on her paw. Angelpaw sighed. “That’s why I came to you. I figured you’d know what to do.”LilyKate, meanwhile, finished her cup, ordering 1 Black Fiasco, and a Light Party, two famous sodas. It came in a few seconds, and LilyKate put the two in the middle of the table, also ordering a sharpie. Angelpaw watched the bubbly liquids and then looked at LilyKate. “You see this, Angelpaw? The light glass is you. The black glass is Dreampaw. Watch this.” She untipped the top of her sharpie, and turned the light glass towards her, drawing 3 short lines vertically. They resembled scratch marks. “LilyKate, you aren’t…suggesting I frame her…are you?”She said in a joking tone. Angelpaw chuckled a bit. LilyKate shushed her. “Shh…Watch. Talk later.” LilyKate said, continuing her presentation. Angelpaw obliged. LilyKate licked her paw, then used it to wipe off the sharpie. It was smudged, but it worked. She then switched the places of the glasses, and slowly moved the black glass towards the edge. Eventually, she tipped it and pushed it with force, the glass falling and shattering on the floor. She returned Angelpaw’s shocked face with a smirk. “You…I’m not gonna kill her!” She shouted in a hushed tone. A maid came to the noise and cleaned up the glass, along with the liquid. “Do you not know what’s below Heaven? Earth, dummy!” She shouted back. Angelpaw’s eyes widened. “You're suggesting we send her down to earth? Where she can't come back?” Angelpaw didn’t add on the extra ‘Isn’t that too far?’ because she knew LilyKate would understand it. She did. “We won’t. They’ll sentence her to Earth for assault on you. Our hands will be clean.” LilyKate shrugged it off easily. Angelpaw still felt shocked, and a bit of guilt. Angelpaw shook her head. LilyKate changed her expression, turning it into confusion. Angelpaw stood back up. “Sorry LilyKate, but I don’t think I wanna ban my sister from heaven. Thank you for the tea and the advice, but I gotta go.” Angelpaw turned around and started to fly off. “W-wait! I’m not done! You can’t just-” Angelpaw was already miles away, leaving LilyKate to sit in her disappointment. Continued - https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/736729949/
