Most exhausting project I have EVER done xD -------------------------------------------------------------------------There's a part or two where it might harm some flash sensitive people ------------------------------------------------------------------------- *slamming my head against the wall because half of my progress got deleted when the internet went out and the page refreshed* ------------------------------------------------------------------------- So I have a quite a story for this project. I tried to get it out by when Hocus Pocus 2 came out, but clearly I failed cause I've already seen the new movie prior to posting. (it was okay, I give it a 5 - 6/10) So it's actually Halloween themed, and I had always and originally planned that so...xP I made it a black and white kinda theme, to add like an old-timey and spooky kinda effect and it also helped bring out the witches' magic ------------------------------------------------------------------------- So I was making notecards, cause thats how i study, for science and we were learning the periodic table and how it was designed and stuff, and the song Lily by Alan Walker came on my earbuds. And I thought back to a project I made for it earlier and how it kinda sucks bc its like the same thing over and over again and wasn't rly animated cause there were like 3 pictures. And I was thinking that I should make another animatic for it soon. But I wasn't sure what to put in it. If you look at animatics for the song on YouTube, you'll find relatively the same thing. some demon comes and is like disguised as a dude and basically kidnaps her or whatever. But I didn't personally think that it fit the story in the song all the way. At least it's not how I always visualized it. So i got to thinking: what theme I would do if I made a new animatic. And it was like BOOOOOOM the idea just SLAMMED ITSELF INTO MY TINY BRAIN. Hocus. Pocus. Themed. The blonde witch would always sing and hypnotize the kids to come so they could steal their youth, and that's what she would be doing in the animatic. The "magic story you've been told" was with the spellbook. And there was no random reason why the people were kidnapping Lily, like in some of the other animatics. (Not trying to dis them...but I'm just saying my thought process. A couple of them r rly interesting tho, and the art is waaaaaay better than mine xP) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- (this song kinda gives me Tangled/Rapunzel vibez tbh) In summary, the song is about the backstory of a little girl named Lily, who grew up safe and isolated from the outside world. So she didn't truly know all the dangers that was out there. And when she left, she was met with "monsters" she didn't expect and a fate she didn't necessarily deserve. The moral of the song is to be careful and stay alert.
Anyways, I got to trying to draw it, and I STRUGGLED. The art was SO GOOD in the other animatics, and it wasn't rly my style to draw outlines and line art of people realistically. I had more of a cartoony/blendy kinda style. So I TRIED AND TRIED to draw using the others' styles...and failed. I traced pictures to help warm up and get the feel of the outlines, and I watched videos and tutorials. But because I just couldn't get it, I went with my own little cartoony thing instead...and I tried my best, but at least there's more than 3 pictures this time unlike last time xDDDD And it's kind of interesting in a way to see the old Lily project I posted and this new one, because I can just see the improvement I've made xP and maybe I'll make another animation that's like 100x better and I will be able to look back on this one to see how much I'd improved as well! So I guess the lesson and moral of the story is...don't try to change your own unique art style because you see other people's and think it's better. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- also, I found a slower version of this song and put it in bc I thought it would sound spookier ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ idk if that's true but...I like the slowed version of Lily by Alan Walker better ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyways, that's all for now!! thanks for watching my project and thanks for reading this if you have xP Have a good Halloween/Day of the Dead (or whatever u guys celebrate ;) )
