The rope was choking her, and she eventually gave up, lying down and whimpering. People walked past, staring and pointing. She leapt up again and began to struggle, but the people took no notice. They didn't understand. They just laughed and leaned in closer to the bars of her cage, which sat atop a brightly colored cart. Suddenly, the Ring Master pushed through the crowd, and her amber eyes widened. Those eyes were the only 'normal' part of her left. He came up to thebsrs of the cage and cracked his whip. She helped in surprise and curled up at the back of her cage, trembling in fear. The Ring Master cracked his whip again and yelled those same words that he did most days: "Hey, get up you worthless Circus Monster!"
