"What's going on?", Solaris demanded. The dragon didn't like it when secrets were kept from her. Ember flinched. No matter how much he tried she was always so harsh with him. "I'm leaving and... I don't think I can do this anymore." He blurted out. "I-i don't exactly know what 'this' is but... I find it hard to tell if you love me or just see me as a royal guard. It's really affecting me. I tried really hard to be there for you and make time for you but you never really did the same for me. I know you have a kingdom to run, but you always seem to have time for everything but me and sometimes you can be really mean to me. I love you a lot Solaris, but I think I just need a break. I'm leaving with the caravan and Desert is coming with me. We're loyal guards to you it's just that..." Ember sighed. "I need to put myself first for a while. I'm really sorry." Ember remembered that day as if it were yesterday. The Sandwing had left with his caravan and left Queen Solaris behind. As Ember sat in his tent, an all black Sandwing held up the entrance flap and peeked inside. "Everyone is all set up, sir." Ember was snapped out of his thoughts by his second in command, Cobra. She had been his loyal friend throughout the saddening few weeks after Ember's break-up, and he was glad to have appointed her as his right hand man. "Thank you, Cobra. You can stand down for the night. Make sure you eat dinner." Cobra nodded. "And you?" Ember shook his head. "I have a few more things to do." "I'll bring you something then." "You really don't have to-" But she was already gone. Ember sighed and looked down at the scroll in his talons. He was writing a story about his experiences, making it into a tale for Prickle and the other caretakers to entertain the dragonets with during long flights in between oasises. It all started about a month ago, on a scorching hot day...
