"Yeah, I know, but anyways, are you hungry?"Vera asked. I nodded. "Very hungry" Vera smiled and called out to her mother:"Mooom, Sophie's hungry... do we have any food?" Darya turned to me:"Oh! I didn't...sorry that I didn't think about dinner..." She opened the door of the fridge and started looking. through."Some toasted grilled-cheese sandwiches, and potatoes!"Darya walked over to the stove and out of the oven came a steaming pan of baked potatoes that Darya placed gently on the table. "Oh and dessert..."she added, then gave each of us a big wooden spoon and said:"Eat!" I dug the spoon into the potatos and shoved it in my mouth. I burned myself several times, but it was worth it(WHY?because then Vera would eat it all)After we devoured all the potatoes I asked Vera:"What store do those potatoes come from?There so good!"Vera smiled, her eyes laughing:"From our own farm, duh..." Then came Darya with dessert: Pumpkin pie! She cut it into pieces, and before she even gave us plates, Vera grabbed a piece of the sweet smelling pie and shoved it into her mouth, chewing loudly.I stared. Darya smiled:"Sorry about Vera, Sophie..."she said but Vera interrupted:"Yeah, yeah mom...I know what you'll say that I'm so 'Immature and wild' This time, Darya frowned:"Vera, this is not how you talk to your mother, please, be respectful."her voice was firm but kind, all at the same time. When my parents were angry, they had no kindness in their voice, only in their head, I guess. Vera sighed, and forced out:"I'm sorry mom..." before going back to her food. I too, took a piece of pie and started eating it, not like Vera though but more... properly, I guess I could say that. Vera looked at me, amazed:"How do you eat pie so slowly and carefully?"she asked me, her violet eyes wide open. I shrugged.
