There is a section in their torso that has been ripped completely off revealing radium and allowing them to sprout wings, and both of their ears, one being the tip have had the same treatment. Their tail and a portion of their front right leg has been ripped as well. However, they were kidnapped and injected with an odd serum. There were other cats there, and once they learned their ability was blood radium, they and other cats escaped. Many split up, but a cat named Shade stayed with Viper. Due to the radium, however, Shade died.
