assalamualikum, may peace be upon you and may allah bless yourself and your loved ones, ameen<3 — — — nowadays, so many things are normalised as being 'cool', 'trendy' and in some cases, 'aesthetic'. but is it even a right thing to do? disclaimer ; the topics i talk about in this project include mental health disorders, eating disorders, physical disorders, h4rm, disabilities, pronouns (neoprns especially) and race. its 2022, and before 2023 i want the world to stop normalising these things into something that can be easy to have or 'aesthetic and cute', sometimes even both. the past few months i have witnessed people mocking many things, mainly mental disorders. now, you may think 'mocking' as making horrendous jokes about something, saying rude things about it etc. but many times. this is not the case. mocking is a strong, and wide word. this includes pretending to have a certain disorder, or be a certain race, or use neopronouns just because you think its 'aesthetic'. it is not for aesthetic purposes. on my feeds everywhere, i always come across that one problematic video of people pretending to be another race, aka oli london or people who have the same intentions as him. people who pretend to have depression, making it seem like its all crying, lazyness etc. it is not always this way, depression can be other things too, like panic attacks, mood changes as well as constant sadness. the worst thing is, they all dramatize the symptoms like its the worst thing ever to live with.
