Here's the chapter in the text if you're confused, still TW I waited. Then it happened. The air got colder. The ground rumbled and a cold icy blanket slowly covered the frostbitten ground. A chill went down my back. My only hope was to run. I ran as fast as my legs could take me. My throat burned. I shook my head in pain, struggling not to lose consciousness. Sweat stung my eyes as it dripped down my shivering face. My hands were shaking uncontrollably, but not from the cold. I knew. I knew I could not get caught. Cold streamed down my icy back. My lungs wouldn't work but I couldn't stop. Not now, not after what I had been through. Something caught my foot, and my ankle snapped like a twig. A burst of pain spread through my leg. My ankle throbbed. I was stuck where I was. I twisted and turned, but whatever had tripped me wouldn’t release; it didn't budge. The pain made me dizzy. My heart was beating faster by the second. My stomach swirled. Laying there watching the night sky, obstructed by the clouds that seemed to glare at my soul, I sat there on the cold hard ground. My face was numb. I wanted to forget about my miserable life. I wanted to melt like a cold lifeless snowflake across the ground. I was simply one out of thousands. I could lay there until I melted away. Trying to distract myself, I remembered. All the warm nights I had spent with Jack and Clarrie. I hoped they were okay. I can’t worry about that yet. That thought felt strange in my mouth like I was neglecting them. But I would never see them again if I didn’t escape and break free. I was almost back to the town only a few miles away. The cold was growing stronger with the pain. Blood was everywhere. I hated how I was trapped, powerless, waiting for my defeat, and couldn't even move. What would he do with me if I didn’t escape? My mind was blank. I had to think. After all, if I could survive alone in that dreadful town, then I could do this. I just needed a plan. Then it came to me. I had to use my power to break free. A jolt of energy flowed through me, eliminating the darkness. It was burning away the icy chains that held me. Then all I saw were dots. I felt weak. Then everything went black.
