So, uh, tell me what you think? This might become a full story, but for now it's just a prologue. I'm also probably going to change the title. ========================================== Mia dug her nails into her palms. The steel blade above her flashed in the sun. "SKYE!" Mia shouted, desperate. Not for her younger cousin, the traitor, but the raven of the same name. And, sure enough, the platform was almost instantly covered by a dark shadow. The huge raven grabbed the hood of Mia's cloak and yanked her away. Mia rose to her feet and climbed onto the raven's back. The raven took off, and was soon far away from that cursed place. Mia sighed with relief. No one would come after her. "We need to go to the bee place," Mia told the raven. "They'd /love/ to have a ruler with a claim to the Raven Queen throne." The raven started to turn slightly, and Mia sighed. Already, her head was starting to ache. She could stay here. At the edge of the kingdom, or in the mountains. Resign to an existence as a bird tamer, perhaps. A falconer, maybe. Trained birds were valuable, and Mia could have a decent life that way. For a moment, the idea seemed nice. But Mia's uncontrolled ambition boiled up and she urged her raven faster. The sooner she got out of this place, the sooner she could retake her throne. And Lavender would regret betraying her. That little rodent. Now that /she/ was in charge, the kingdom would probably fall apart in a few minutes. Fairly soon, only an hour or so later, a walled city came into view. The City of Bees. The raven landed, and walked towards the gate. One of the nervous guards asked in a trembling voice, "What- what is your business here?" "I must see your king. I am the Raven Queen, so I suggest you allow me in," Mia said calmly, letting the vague threat hang in the air. No doubt these people could come up with worse things than Mia would actually do. "I-You may enter." The guard opened the gate. Mia rode through the gate, and down the large road. The few people out stopped what they were doing and stared. And why wouldn't they? Mia kept riding. Bees hummed around her and sometimes landed on her. Mia didn't mind, though. When she reached the castle, she wasn't even questioned. Apparently, no one had sent a raven. At least, not quickly enough. After a quick explanation to the right people and letting her raven rest in the stables, Mia had an audience with the regent. Mia took a deep breath. She stood up straighter and calmly announced, "I come with good tidings for both our kingdoms." ============================================= Credits: Story - Song - Woe to the People of Order The coding is by with slight modifications by and the art is by
