Name: Incedis Species: Wilder Wolf Gender: Female Story: Incedis awoke to her brother, Lemsal, swatting various sticks and pebbles at her with his paws. "Where is Safflower when I need her?" She grumbled, shaking herself clean from the assortment of things in her fur. "Remember, fa and ma took Simsi, Measea, Rosweld, Fenner, Gijulle, and Kakuleri to the Westmiota Fjord for the Festival." Said Lemsal. "Westmiota's Victorious Fall Fest something or other is what it's called I think-" "You aren't supposed to know what it's called! I TOLD you not to listen in on others conversations!" Replied Incedis angrily. "Well, Safflower is only going to wait a bit longer for you, so better get her before she goes with them, Unwanted Incedis." Lemsal snapped. Incedis had been rejected from her prior application to become a Solerian (part of a faction for warriors), seven Cycles of Light before the Festival. She had set the practice sword on fire with the festival Pyroe (Bonfire). She paid no mind to Lemsal's snarky comment, saying "He's just jealous that he's too young to go to the Festival." She put her lucky willowherb in her fur before heading off. After crossing a couple of rivers, following familiar pawprints and scents, and leaping across several gulches, she came to a clearing where she and her older siblings would play in when they were pups. As she came closer to the green grass bathed in warm sunlight, she could see Safflower's yellowish orange pelt shimmering in the bright warm rays of the morning. "Incedis!" She yelped excitedly. "I'm glad that we actually PLANNED to meet here." "Well, I'M glad that I even remembered." Replied Incedis. "IALMOSTFORGOTLIKEYOUDO WE HAVE TO GO NOW!" Yelled Safflower, quickly grabbing Incedis by the scruff of her neck and dragging her somehow. Incedis wriggled out of her sisters grip, leaping to her feet and dashing off in the direction of the Fjord excitedly. "I'll race you!" Said Safflower as she quickly caught up to Incedis. When they reached the Fjord, their paw pads were scratched and bleeding, but they didn't care. "Well, that sure was fun." Huffed Safflower. "Yeah, but it's time for the Festival!" Exclaimed Incedis. As the two sisters explored the many places at the festival, they came across a Wolf merchant who was shouting "Which of you know how to use this thing? I'll give it to someone who can, because I can't!" The merchant had strange wooden charms and an unusual bent stick with a string tied on either end of it. One wolf replied with "What is that? Some kind of wooden sword with a weird string tied to it?" "I have no idea." said the merchant. Safflower squinted to look at the thing and whispered "Incedis, I think that's the ancient weapon that ma used to tell us about." "But I thought ma said it was a sword. That doesn't look like a sword." Incedis quietly replied. "Well she probably got it mixed up. But what's the point if no one-" Safflower started. "I'll try." Said a voice. It was Incedis, who somehow slipped away without her sister noticing. "Okay, but there's also these little things in a bag that come with it. They're called arrows, I think." replied the merchant. Incedis remembered stories of large animal beings that could light up the earth with lightning and fire with these weapons. The stories said they carried swords with their tails, but Incedis could tell that the tale was incorrect. She placed the strange contraption over her green cloak, which she had gotten from a previous festival. She strapped the bag of arrows to her side. She then took an arrow with her tail, then put it on the bow. She then positioned herself where she could still see where she was aiming, and where she couldn't hit herself with the arrow. She released the arrow at a split in a birch tree on the side of the Fjord, and it worked. The arrow landed right in the split wood. Safflower said "Oh yeah, I totally knew you could do it sis!" And the large crowd that had gathered while Incedis was focusing on the tree erupted into impressed howls and barks. The merchant said "Wow. You did it. Keep that thing. You deserve it." That moon-cycle, Incedis became the leader of a faction called the Ferian wolves. Other wolves were interested in the bows, and even made their own. Safflower joined Incedis in the Faction, and Incedis became known as the Impossi-bow wolf. JK she wasn't. She and her sister were known as the first wolves to restore bow wielding, and still light up the sky with lightning and fire.
