The question now was not if it would, but when. The different ethnic groups in the Soviet Union all petitioned for independence, or at the very least local autonomy. With 15 republics, each with their own ethnic group, there would be a war sooner or later. Everyone knew that it would collapse, but the question was when. The time would come in 1988, when Czechoslovakia would invade the Soviet Union, along with several rebel groups.
