┏━ ☠️ ❘ ༻ ༺ ❘ ☠️ ━━┓ HIIHHIHII !! I finally bothered to pull together an art tutorial and this is probably my favorite TNE out of all the ones I've submitted [ only got 2 others to compare on this account HAH ] This is for a Halloween-themed MAP hosted by the spectacular @SkipperTheSilkwing ! You can check it out at the link above ^^ Click / space / arrow keys to proceed :] You can go back, which is what some of you might have to do to download a clearer version of your character >B] don't insult the firealpaca and ignore the fact i use an ancient one mkay ,, ((: lmk if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask ! You can even bombard me with 10 questions in a row, idm ^^ Ty for 1.6k by the way !! I just needed an excuse to make this but I truly appreciate you guys <33 ☠️ ── ── ── STEP-BY-STEP | ☠️ 1 | Open FireAlpaca and then open a new canvas. I find that the default size works fine for me; my Scratch resizes it ^^ 2 | Make a ref layer :) - This step isn't included in the tutorial for speeding things up, but I basically copy paste all the refs into FireAlpaca and then resize then merge into a single layer. 3 | Make a sketch !! - Use Pencil and go to Brush Control, lowering the opacity to anything below 40%. I'd say red is the best color, then blue, then green ^^ 4 | Background OCs - Use a second color and do rough drawings of characters; stick figures are the best frames for fulls. You should do background decor here too :] 5 | Main character lineart - Each person may use a different size but I use standard pen at 5.2 pixels, then swap to size 10 for tracing and facial details, such as eyelashes, y'know~ 6 | BG characters - Just stick to 5.2 and draw as you would (: 7 | Basic Background - I was provided with a palette, so I hide it up top ready to colorpick, then make basic shapes and background colors in a layer below everything. I mean EVERYTHING :) 8 | Background Details - Basically you add random doodles such as a chandelier or wood marks with the darkest color on the palette ^^ 9 | Main Character Color - Self-explanatory. Make a new layer under the lineart and follow the slide. For patterning you use your smallest brush that is bigger than 1 pixel, set Expand to 1, and paint B) 10 | Background Character Base - Expand 3 and paint 11 | BG OCs Patterns - Repeat Step 9. If the character has any specific details just follow the ref you've been given :) 12 + 13 | Background Shading - Use the magic tool and just click wherever you want to get that color on your palette ! I use Hard Airbrush [ basically airbrush with higher opacity ] and shade around wherever usually has shading :D 14 | Details on BG Characters - Since they're a lot smaller, use a lighter brush and smaller-sized pen for highlights so that you don't draw the attention away from the main character [ sorry :,D ] 15 + 16 | Main OC Shading - I alternated between the normal 100 airbrush and the harder one here !! Use the hard one to shade where there would definitely be shadows / most shadows such as under the chin, beneath the ears etc~ Then use a smaller one for details as explained in the slides ! 17 | Lighting - Use this sparingly mkay?? Where the fur parts into separate directions is a good spot ^^ 18 | Eye details - self explanatory 19 | Lens Blur - I blur out everyone except for me >:) 20 | Explained in project 21 | pixlr e edits !! The rest can be seen in the project ^^ Lmk if you have any questions !! ☠️ ── ── ── CREDITS | ☠️ Art ☠️ Yours truly :] Characters ☠️ T-B ; L-R | Eight [ ], Spook [ ], Sasha [ ], Nym [ mine ! ], Emberdrift [ ], Fenwhistle [ ] Designs ☠️ , ??, , , Coding ☠️ ME !!
