Warriors: A Fan-Based Series Book 1: Snowballing Troubles Chapter 2 Part 1 “They’re going to fight!” Snowball whispered in horror. “Mouse-brained! Of course we knew that! Look at all their fierce-angry faces, even a kit could tell that they're about to fight!” Acorntree teased him. Crystalpaw could not help but giggle at the two brothers. Yeah, yeah, Mr. Smarty Pants. Snowball rolled his eyes at his brother. Cries of pain and hisses of anger came from every direction. Cats rolled around, trying to defend themselves from one anothers’ attacks. Snowball narrowed his focus to Runningwater, who was fighting what seemed to be the largest cat in BreezeClan. Runningwater launched himself, landed on the cat’s back and bit him hard on the ear. “Murr-oww!” The black cat yowled in pain. He shook Runningwater off his back and stood over him, hissing furiously. The black cat then picked Runningwater’s face with a paw. The WaterClan deputy hissed and spat as he struggled in the strong cat’s grip. The cat only smirked meanly, lifted up his other paw, and scratched both of Runningwater’s eyes. Runningwater cried out in excruciating pain, “I can’t see, I can’t see!” The cat laughed at the now blind Runningwater and said in a high voice with fake concern, “Poor little kitty, you can’t see! Oh, what am I to do? I know!” He pulled Runningwater closer to him roughly and growled, “Let’s kill you!” Runningwater thrashed about and screamed, “NO! YOU-YOU CAN’T!! NO! I’M NOT READY TO JOIN MOONCLAN YET!!” With a quick bite in the neck, Runningwater’s screams faded away and he stopped struggling. The black cat dropped his body onto the ground and smiled evilly, revealing rows of sharp teeth. Soon, Snowball spotted another orange and gold BreezeClan cat, Fireclaw, walking slowly towards the black one. “Is he dead?” Fireclaw asked. “Yes, Fireclaw, I just killed him,” the cat purred proudly. “Wonderful! Thanks a million, Ravenblood,” Fireclaw praised him. The two cats glanced at the dead WaterClan deputy on the ground. “Fireclaw, let’s escape while we can, we won’t want the leader to take away your deputy role,” Ravenblood said. Fireclaw gave him a nod and they slipped away into the bushes, far away from the other battles that were going on. But later Ravenblood stepped out of the bush and stared in Acorntree, Snowball, and Crystalpaws’ direction. Snowball could feel Ravenblood’s yellow eyes piercing into him and tensed up. Can he see us? Snowball wondered to himself. After a moment or two, Ravenblood went back into the bushes. The battle raged on. More and more cats from both clans died. By the time the battle ended, the sun had already begun to set, casting its pink and orange glow over the forest. The remaining cats who survived walked back to their clans with blood oozing from their many wounds. The once lush and green field was now bloodstained and a horrific sight. After all the cats had left, Acorntree and Snowball checked that it was safe before the three of them crept out of the bush. Snowball shook off twigs and tiny leaves from his fur and turned to see if Crystalpaw was alright. Crystalpaw stood rooted to the ground, trembling all over. She seemed extremely afraid and there was a look of terror in her usually bright and clear eyes. Although Snowball was worried, he continued heading home with the two. . . . “Rainstar! Rainstar!” Snowball burst out once they reached the camp. “There was a battle between BreezeClan and WaterClan just now, and in our territory too!” “Oh, dear. Are any of you hurt? If you are, I can ask Speckledfur to have a look,” Rainstar’s eyes scanned the dirty cats and said. Speckledfur was StormClan’s medicine cat. She was always great at fixing cats’ wounds and has healed many of Snowball’s clanmates in a remarkably fast time. “No,” Snowball said, then whispered to Rainstar, “But I think Crystalpaw is terrified by all the fighting. She won’t stop shivering and seems really frightened.” “Oh,” Rainstar glanced at the apprentice, her face creased with worry. “I’ll ask Speckledfur to come and calm her down now.” The StormClan leader looked very worried as she spun around and rushed to the medicine den to get Speckledfur. Rainstar had cared for Crystalpaw when she had lost her mother, treating Crystalpaw as if she was her own kit. So it was no surprise to Snowball that Rainstar was the most worried about Crystalpaw. As Snowball thought about this, Crystalpaw suddenly slipped away from Acorntree and Snowball, blending into the crowd of cats. The two brothers, seeing that, hurried after her. However, the swift apprentice was already nowhere to be seen. “Crystalpaw!” Acorntree called. Silence. Acorntree tried again, but there was still no response. Snowball and Acorntree, knowing that Rainstar and Speckledfur were probably already waiting for them, went back to where they were before.
