ꕥ .: Destiny's Child: Prolouge :. ꕥ The beauty of the night sky never seemed to fade, no matter how many times I gazed upon it. My name always seemed fitting to me - I did spend most of my time looking at the sky, rather than fighting or playing meaningless games, like most of the other young DayClan warriors. The sky was my muse, the source of my being, and the reason I lived through another day. It reminded me of what I had to work for. I sighed, curling my tail closer to my body. A gust of wind whooshed up from the cliffs below, carrying the scent of river water and damp sand. Another scent came along with it: a TwilightClan cat. The hair along my neck started to bristle with warning, but I flattened it. Let whoever it was think I didn’t notice. Silence spread throughout the air, disrupted only by the soft thrum of the river. I narrowed my eyes as the scent drifted closer. “I can smell you, Irisleaf.” I called, my voice ringing through the trees. “Aw, darn.” Sighed a sleek silver cat emerging from the undergrowth. “But I got farther before you noticed me this time!” “But not quite far enough.” I grinned, motioning them closer with my tail. “Though I will admit, you did better.” “Aw, thank you.” They grinned, plopping down beside me. “I heard you fought a coyote.” “Ah, well…” I shifted uncomfortably. “It ran away after a few scratches. Though it got my shoulder pretty good.” I flicked my tail at the cobwebs on my shoulder. “I leave for one week, and that’s the trouble you get into?” She teased, flicking my ear affectionately. “I need to keep a better eye on you!” I smiled sadly and looked away. I loved her being here, but these conversations always ended with her begging me to leave DayClan, to run away with her to TwilightClan. But that couldn’t happen. I had too much to protect here, not to mention how furious Badgerstar would be that I’d run away. And even then, there were no guarantees that TwilightClan would accept me. “Skywhisker…” She started, and I knew what was coming. “I’m done begging you. I know that DayClan means a lot to you. And nothing I’ve said has worked. But I thought if you wouldn’t listen to me you might listen to somebody else.” I looked up, confused, and saw a figure emerge from the bushes. I leapt up with a hiss. “Who are you?” The cat was slick-furred and lean, with long legs and a tall, elegant stature. Their fur was a deep, bottomless black, almost like a deep chasm. Or a void. /Voidstar./ The TwilightClan leader was a legend among the warriors. He was never seen by anyone outside of his own Clan, even in battles. Those who witnessed him in battle described him as a shadow, waiting until some poor Warrior stumbled into the trees. I eyed him with suspicious eyes. “...you.” I shook my head and laughed. “By Silverpelt, I must be incredibly important if /you/ want me to join.” “Please, Skywhisker.” Irisleaf’s voice was filled with desperation, so unusual for the collected and snarky cat. “You need to listen.” I felt myself beginning to hesitate. What would it hurt if I listened? “Alright. What do you want to tell me?” ꕥ next ~ none yet previous ~ n/a ꕥ characters featured: Skywhisker ~ AFAB she/her ~ DayClan warrior Irisleaf ~ genderfluid she/ he/ they ~ TwilightClan warrior Voidstar ~ bigender he/ they ~TwilightClan leader
