Happy Diabetes Awareness Month! :D ---- Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease caused by your autoimmune system attacking your pancreas, causing your pancreas to produce little to no insulin. ---- Type 2 diabetes is when you have insulin resistance/your body doesn't know what to do with the insulin. ---- There are many other types of diabetes, but those were the 2 most popular. The other types of diabetes are: • Gestational diabetes. • Maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY) • Neonatal diabetes. • Wolfram Syndrome. • Alström Syndrome. • Latent Autoimmune diabetes in Adults (LADA) • Maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY) • Type 3c diabetes • St-roid induced diabetes • Cystic Fibrosis diabetes
Fun challenge to try: The blue balloon challenge It's old and I'm not sure they're still doing it, but you film yourself balancing a blue balloon and add the hashtag and JDRF will donate a couple dollars to a cure for diabetes.
