Warriors: A Fan-Based Series Book 1: Snowballing Troubles Chapter 2 Part 3 Acorntree, still sobbing, continued, “I heard w-when DarkClan h-has this problem where an a-a-apprentice can’t b-be a warrior, they-they either kick the a-apprentice out, or-or they ch-challenge the apprentice to a b-b-battle with a young warrior. I heard that most of the time, t-the apprentice d-dies. If-if the apprentice lives, they st-st-still kick the apprentice o-out!” Snowball flinched when Acorntree started to sob harder. Snowball thought as he had never seen his usually brave and fierce brother this upset before. “B-but Rainstar wouldn’t do that,” he told Acorntree, trying to reassure him. Out of the blue, Acorntree rose to his paws slowly and hissed at Snowball, “NO! RAINSTAR WILL DO THAT! CRYSTALPAW IS ALL THAT I HAVE, BUT YOU HAVE FLOWERHEART, AND MANY MORE! I HAVE NOTHING BESIDES CRYSTALPAW!!” Acorntree flipped Snowball onto his back, stood on top of him, and sank his paws into Snowball’s throat. “But what about our parents? Our mother Owlheart? What about me?” Snowball gasped for air. “I DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU OR OUR MOTHER! BESIDES, OUR FATHER, APPLESHADOW IS DEAD!” Acorntree growled, pressing his paws further into Snowball’s throat. Snowball struggled and tried to push his brother off him, but it was impossible. “I’M DOING YOU A FAVOUR, BECAUSE YOU WILL GET TO MEET OUR FATHER IN MOONCLAN!” Acorntree then pushed his paws into Snowball’s throat as hard as he could. “Goodbye, Snowball.” Snowball thought he saw a sad look flash across his brother’s face for a moment but he continued pressing harder. “Acorntree!” Just at that moment, Rainstar rushed in and yowled loudly. “What are you doing?!” Acorntree ignored StormClan’s leader. “Snowball? No!-” Snowball heard another familiar voice. Flowerheart? He could not tell. His senses started to fade away. His vision went blurry as he turned his head to the right. He tried to resist the urge to close his eyes, but failed. The whole world plunged into darkness.
